PO2 Patrick Dwyer 269381

My Congress person ( Jeff Miller ) has been ranking member of Veterans Affairs for years. Now he is lauded here for " Fixing " the VA. My position is it got worse with administrators insread of Doctors able to run the show, award themselves and each other bonuses while he was Director. I realize an all-rookie Congress may or may not be ideal. Will any of us vote against incumbent members of Congress? 2014-10-08T13:25:25-04:00 PO2 Patrick Dwyer 269381

My Congress person ( Jeff Miller ) has been ranking member of Veterans Affairs for years. Every single one of them including the small handful who are honest and decent. Especially Congressional types. Each year they behave worse than pre-school children with their actions in office. If corporations were run like they run the senate and congress - they would be out of business.

We need both the senate and congress to have term limits of 4 t0 8 years maximum; once that limit is obtained they cannot serve again. Plus, they should not receive lifetime health care or retirement from this short time of service – you don’t see our military members getting any special treatment for anything under 20 years – they shouldn’t either. They should not be treated better than our members who have put their family life on hold during deployments, served under hostile fire conditions or had to endure the cost of serving their country with life altering injuries.

No individual campaign should be allowed to accept any funding from: lobbyists, special interest groups or any other individual or group – instead put it into a general pot that all individuals that are trying to get elected would each get the same cut to run their campaigns. That would keep things on a more equitable standing – so someone isn’t elected just because they had more money than the competition in terms of ads and campaigning.

While we are at it – get the Electoral College dissolved – so that each individuals vote cast for the presidential election is actual used for the outcome – not a select group of people choosing who they decide to put in office. The American public needs to wake up and make their law makers accountable for their actions in office. Their guidance should be the Constitution and Bill of Rights – not lobbyists, special interest groups or the so-called elite.
If America was smart it would cut all foreign aid and use that money back here in the U.S. to fix our crumbling infra-structure (which is what helped make us a super power), which in turn would create a tremendous amount of jobs. Plus, tax the U.S. corporations that have moved abroad to get away from paying their fair share of taxes, create a straight tax for the country (no loop holes) so that everyone is paying the same percentage – this would be fair to all: the rich, what’s left of the middle class, the poor and businesses. Then we would have the money to realistically fund our infra-structure repair, fund programs for the mentally impaired (so they can stop the one way path to prison or homelessness) and to properly care for our veterans.

I know I’m dreaming to think any of this will ever happen. They think they are there to stay while doing nothing of much significance as our country goes further and further to the dogs. I think its time for term limits and ending this BS of voting for fixes to problems that go beyond the scope of their terms.
