SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4410219

I have a young brand new soldier who is curious if his status as an Eagle Scout will help with getting a waiver to Specialist when the time comes. I was never a boy/cub scout but realize that achieving the rank of Eagle Scout is a big deal. I've known a few soldiers that are Eagle Scouts and it shows thru their leadership and attitude. Usually make pretty good soldiers. Will being an Eagle Scout before the military get a PFC a waiver to SPC? 2019-02-28T23:12:19-05:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4410219

I have a young brand new soldier who is curious if his status as an Eagle Scout will help with getting a waiver to Specialist when the time comes. I know of several Eagle scouts who enlisted or become officers. So if the experience is rewarded in the Army somehow it would be good to know for others.

For what it is worth, I got my E-3 to E-4 TIG waiver from my XO waiver for being motivated and a SMC cadet. Not for my "civilian" life. If it was not applied prior to him taking his formal oath it will not be used.

Doesn't mean he can not use it while requesting a TIG waiver, but other than that it will not apply. ABCMR = Army Board Correction of Military Records. I did this in 1984 to correct for the MEPS miscounting my college credits. The ABCMR promoted me to the next rank, fixed my records and issued backpay as if it never happened. It will save you all the work as all the troop has to do is supply paperwork he was an Eagle Scout before enlistment along with copy of his Enlistment papers. ABCMR will do the rest. No repercussions against anyone for jumping CoC. It is a very nice system the Army has here for MEPS issues that were missed like this. They used to be on the Internet they might be in AKO now. Just download their claim form, supply doco and write out that the MEPS missed this during enlistment process. They will fix it. The promotion orders and the orders to fix his records are signed by at least a one star General...........so nobody argues about it (heh-heh). Eagle Scout assisted in getting me to E3, but the command team and work ethic assisted in getting E4. Let the SM know to work hard and have a positive attitude, that will get him noticed above his peers.
