Turn 40 this month that gives me 26%. Flagged at this time, packet to retire is at S1. Worst case scenario that could happen to me? I go into catastrophic thinking getting kicked out blah blah. Will being flagged prevent from retirement 21yrs? 2019-07-07T22:08:39-04:00 SFC Private RallyPoint Member 4789748

Failed tape. 21 years of service. I never failed one lol. But now I know how it feels. Injury and failing to recover has really taken a toll. Thank you again. You got flagged for failing tape. Ok, you get put on the overweight program and given a goal to meet. By the time they could even start a chapter paperwork, you would be retired.

Flag just means that you cannot receive awards, promotions, go to school and the like. It really has zip fo an effect on a retiring SM unless there was some award they were in for and yet to receive. You're in sanctuary right now and if your command wants to chapter you, the request has to be sent to HRC for their approval. HRC will not chapter someone over 20 years for APFT or ABCP. I once saw a guy get knocked down from E6 to E5 and then again to E4 when he was at 19 years, and HRC refused to allow the command to chapter him, he was allowed to retire.
