Will I be ordered to go active if I don't ship to basic?

My dep contract says I'll be ordered to active duty if I don't show up to ship what's the chances of that? And can I be released if I only signed my first contract

1) Are you prepped and ready to show up and ship to Basic Training?
2) If you answer "yes" to #1, then why are you stressing about it?
3) Why are you asking about being released? Are you no longer wanting to be in the NG?
4) Use your real name. Seriously. I get it you're probably wanting to show tribute to the singer, but seriously you are getting into the military. Be a tad more professional. It's really hard to give guidance and mentorship to a Soldier that doesn't want to use their real name.

I went DEP back in 83. only difference was I went active duty for 11 years. You should be active duty for basic training anyways. I believe once you've completed training they release you back to the reserves or guard unit. I don't remember the whole process but you will be issued a DD 214 then once your AIT school is available you become active duty for training and same process is repeated like Basic. It's been a few years but couldn't have changed that much

You signed the contract. I'm not an expert on what can happen prior to going to basic training, but your recruiter is. If you really don't wish to enlist anymore, talk to your recruiter. What I would say though is that you signed a contract and you should be an adult and follow through with that obligation. It would seem to me that you could obviously use the military experience to help you develop into an adult and understand what responsibility is.

From my understanding of the National Guard is you only swear in once. Here in Louisiana, whenever we swear in we’re officially apart of the Louisiana National Guard, and therefore there is no need to sign a second contract. We don’t even back to the MEPS to ship, you’re state pays for your travel to basic and AIT. As far as you feeling reluctant, I think that’s completely normal. You’re just having fear because you don’t know quite what to expect. But I’m sure you’re tougher than that. If you set a cycle now of quitting you’ll be surprised how that chain reaction will cause an unbalance in your life. Just set your mind to accomplish the goal, and finish strong.

Just the advise of probably a foolish old man,show up to ship(what ever the hell that means) believe me you won't regret it,quitting gets a lot easier after the first time.

You don't have a DEP contract if your National Guard and your not in the DEP program. Your officially in your State National Guard with your first contract signing. So yes you already have a military obligation.

First of all yes I am in the Dep program (future soldiers program) I go to drill but not with my assigned unit until after basic and I will have to sign a second contract when I return to meps to ship out I've already confirmed that with a friend who has returned from AIT with that being said do comment if you don't know if I can be released from my first contract by speaking with commander of my unit

OK, so you have sworn an oath once already. 2. You are in the Guard is you are going to drills. 3. Now, you don't want to go to training? If that's the case just what makes you think the NG still wants you??, I guarantee the Army doesn't want you. I can foresee an Other Than Honorable Discharge in the works, probably for being Absent With Out Leave State recouping any bonuses, etc via garnishment of wages and a hassle trying to get any form of government employment. Have a nice life.

I hope you find a loophole and get out of your contract. I don't want a soldier that didn't feel like he was obligated to serve. You don't value integrity or service enough to honor your commitments. I hope you value this lesson in your adulthood. But you will be ordered to active duty to show up. It is too late for that. Your ship date to basic training is your active duty date already. So if you miss that you can be charged with various articles in the Uniform Code of Military Justice. First, I could see Article 86: Absence without leave. It would cover your failure to report. Then maybe article 92: Failure to obey order or regulation. Welcome to being adult. We all make choices. You commitment to honor them is how you will be judged.

Sorry, but when I enlisted in 2007,the first swear in put me in. Is it that you are scared of the unknown? You need to face it head on and report! You do know OTH,General,Admin Sep or BCD look bad when trying to find work, so talk to your recruiter.
