If you can’t drive a government vehicle it’s hard to do recruiting duty. That is not even looking at the obvious stigma of trying to be a model soldier to recruit people into the army with a DUI. I’m not judging. Sometimes people make mistakes and do dumb stuff. They might keep you out there and make you do nothing but phone calls or office work. If you can't drive a GOV you can't accomplish all recruiting tasks that you would be expected to do. No GOV driving privileges seriously inhibits your ability to conduct prospecting and processing. Along with the GOMOR you should expect to receive a Relief for Cause NCOER and a memorandum from USAREC stating a removal from POSTA (Position of Significant Trust and Authority). Ever. There are far too many options out there for someone to be driving intoxicated.

I also have no sympathy for drunk drivers at all when a drunk driver is the one who killed my uncle and three of his friends two weeks after they graduated high school. This was in 1979 so I never met him - and the driver was 16 so laws were different for minors then and he walked off with probation. For killing 3 people.

It's just not worth it to drive intoxicated ever.
