Rated 60% VA Comp; 22 years total service retired after 18 years credited toward retirement with Army National Guard. Due to not meeting medical retention standards.

Right know the VA trades $ for $ with the Service Retired after 22+ yrs, 60% disabled. VA pays me 60% of my retirement, Service pays me the other 40%. Total sum same damn thing as 100% retirement.

VA payment is non-taxable. Service retirement is taxable. They let us trade taxable retirement by reducing military amount by the VA amount. Still get non-taxable VA amount; But lose same amount from military amount. Contact your federal congress rep and ask for change in law to let us collect both.

I'm Army retired since 1993 - I had an injury while active duty that began to act up when I turned 60. - VA was less than helpful on getting me disability. I recommend DAV to help you. They know the ropes.
