He was able to volunteer for airborne while he was here (through the school is easier) but is concerned that he may not get to keep Korea, especially if his wife is in the Army too and got Korea under the MACP.

Will he just go to the airborne school and off to Korea per his orders or will big Army probably utilize his airborne qualification and put him in an airborne unit?! Thank you. Will I have to give up my orders if I volunteered for airborne? 2022-01-12T17:09:41-05:00 SGT Private RallyPoint Member 7471386

Hey guys, j have a buddy here at AIT who is a reclass (tdy in route) and already used orders to Korea for when he graduates. There are a lot of S1s in 82nd hurting on mapower. If he fails Airborne training he will be reassigned to an available slot - not necessarily in Korea but once again in accordance with the needs of the Army. Anything is possible, but not likely. He would have to have his branch manager contact retention branch to amend his assignment instructions, he would have to contact MPD to get a new set of orders, then his DTS people to get another 1610.

There is one single 42A airborne position in Korea, so it's not impossible, just unlikely. If he did go to Airborne school he would be placed onto an airborne follow on assignment.
