Will I have to redo my entire MEPS physical or just height, weight and BP?

I went to MEPS in August to enlist in the US Army. I completed every portion of the physical but was told by the interviewing doctor to obtain a psych eval and send it to meps through my recruiter. I have received the eval which cleared me mentally and it has been sent to meps from my Recruiting Station. The interviewing doctor said I would not have to complete another physical since they are good for a year. Can anyone confirm this?

You will not have to do another physical once you depart for boot camp. You will meet with a doctor again and they will ask you if anything has changed since the last time you did your physical. It is a general overview of you overall well being not a full physical. You will be looked at by medical personnel and given blood test and urine tests, vaccinations etc, once you are at boot camp.

1. Talk to your recruiter. He or she will know and/or know who to get in contact with that will know.
2. Rallypoint is not the place you really should be going to ask such. Talk to your recruiter.

If the Doctor states it, then that may well be the case. As long as noting disqualifying then you have nothing to worry about with the second physical.

I know that a commissioning physics lasts for 2 years. I believe that an enlistment is the same. We do get educational delays here and there and they take both. If you’ve already gotten your clearance letter and sent it to your recruiter then it’s just waiting to hear back from the surgeon general on if he approves of what you sent in or not. I’d follow up with your recruiter to be sure that it’s been submitted though. If it goes up to OTSG (the level above the SG), you are looking at a 30 day wait period. So, the sooner it’s submitted the better. To answer your question, no, you do not need to take another physical.

Based off of my own experience: When you go back you will being an “inspect” most likely. If you completed everything, they will have you do your height and weight and possibly a lookover of your body to see if anything has changed since you were last there and then talk to the doctor about your eval. Keep in mind that anything can change and if they feel like it they can do it allover (but usually they don’t because it wastes their time). Good luck.

The MEPS physical is good for 2 years. Your physical exam is considered "open" until the doctor makes a determination on the issue. If the doctor qualifies you on the "open" issue, then when you return to MEPS you are only required to do an "inspect", Ht, wt, BP. You must ship to training while the physical is still valid. As someone else mentioned, the best source of information is the recruiter handling your processing, not an internet forum. Too many people think this is the place to "validate" what recruiters tell them, and that is not the way to go.

You physical is good for two yrs. After 30 days you will require an inspect. Ht, wt, blood pressure. If your wt is borderline they will do it at anytime they want. When you return for shipping, if your phy is over two yrs old, you will be given a new one. Under two yrs, and one 30 days only inspect is required. Unless you say you had a medical problem or law problems while in the delayed entry program. Then bring all new records with you on ship day.
