Will Mitt Romney announce his candidacy for President?

Would he be the Republicans best option immediately after announcing his desire to run? Does the GOP need this badly to happen?

CW4 Private RallyPoint Member I think that is highly improbable. He did not do well against Obama and would do equally poor against "Obama in a skirt". The only way Hillary will be defeated (because there are enough stupid in this country to vote for this pathological liar criminal) will be for someone like Trump to take her on and pull no punches. Romney could have done that with Obama, but failed to, deciding to "play nice" in the po0litical cesspool. One thing for sure, if the race is between Clinton and Trump (which certainly appears to be the case), it is going to go nasty fast. Both sides will be slinging mud the likes of which we have never seen before... The sad part about it is that most of it will be true (on both sides).

Having said all that, I would still vote for anybody before I would vote for Hillary Clinton.

I don't know if Mitt WILL run, but I think he SHOULD run. That way there will be at least one qualified candidate running for the Republican Party. And in all honestly, it doesn't hurt that he's "easy on the eyes"...that alone will land him a lot of votes...I personally do not vote on looks alone, I'm just keeping it real about how shallow many of the American voters are...deep down, we all know the American people don't want an ugly President...We're a land of "vain sheep that don't think too deep"... Although this may be sad, it is somewhat true. :-/

Is it too late to enter the race with so many primaries down? And God, I hope so. I can't stand the guy, but it would save me from having to choose between a guy I think will wreck the country in the WH and a woman I think doesn't deserve another tenure there.

It would be a waste of his time and Trump would crush him. If all the other candidates dropped out and endorse one candidate they may beat Trump, but otherwise no way and it is too little too late. Even when Jeb dropped out a good chunk of his voters went to his nemesis Trump. Adding Romny would do nothing unless others dropped out too.

I don't think he'll announce he's going to run again...but I do think he'll talk about the current state of the GOP and in a round about way, talk about Trump and how's he is upsetting the "balance" of the GOP.

Romney's time has passed.
In order to actually pull this off, there would have to be a brokered convention since we are too deep in the primary process for him to stand up an organization and secure delegates. (feel free to substitute Joe Biden's name in the same scenario over at the DNC). Such an action would surely split the party, and Mitt is frankly a proven loser. There is a reason he didn't win the last time.
