Will my spouse and I need to enroll in the AMCP before or while in BCT/AIT?

I am active duty, my spouse is enlisting. I am not to familiar with the process on enrollment of the AMCP. Will my spouse and I need to do this before or while in BCT/AIT? Any guidance is appreciated.

Her recruiter should have information on this, but I do know that enrollment is done via a DA 4187 according to the HRC website.

I enrolled when I got to my first duty station. I helped other Soldiers enroll in the program and it is very simple. One DA form 4187 from your command to hers and one from her command to yours. I will recommend to do it as soon as possible. Not sure if is available while in basic training. Couple of signatures from both of you and your commanders and to the s1 for processing. Be aware that the Army will try their best to station both of you in the same duty station but it is not always the case even if you are enrolled in the program. Only once the Army weren't able to accomodate our request for the same duty station in the last 10 years. Just at the needs of the Army every once in a while.

I would do it ASAP so that it can be in the system and they program her duty station. I submitted my application as soon as I was commissioned so that my follow-on duty station after training was coordinated between our two branches (Army). The recruiter or MEPS counselor should be able to provide advice. Depending on how long her MOS is going to be might effect the process.

Sooner the better- if you want a good chance of staying somewhere close together.
