Will receiving "Promote with peers and qualified" on first NCOER as SSG (under senior rater comments) have a large effect toward promotion? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/will-receiving-promote-with-peers-and-qualified-on-first-ncoer-as-ssg-under-senior-rater-comments-have-a-large-effect-toward-promotion <div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This is the first NCOER I am recieving as a SSG and I have been in this grade for 11 months leading up to this NCOER. I would say you are fine. I would also add the new NCOERs seem to be more heavily geared towards rating people all the same except for a very select few (as opposed to the old NCOER in which everyone was a 1/1 highly qualified or you were &quot;ate up&quot;). In any event, you have plenty time before being eligible for SFC to get a better rating if you want to. Also, I don&#39;t know if anyone has told you but if you aren&#39;t already doing so, you might want to consider keeping a log of all your significant accomplishments throughout the the year. I know it might seem strange but it can help you and your rater (especially when doing your support form). I once gave an E-5 a 2/2 with 2 Excellent blocks (on the old 2166-8) and he came crying to me, asking what he had done wrong! A 2/2 is a good rating. In fact, NCOs who used to give out 1/1s were doing Soldiers a disservice. If you maintain the same level of performance throughout your time at your current rank, how can you ever show improvement? Nobody expects you to know how to function at a rank as soon as you get promoted to it. You are promoted on your POTENTIAL to function at the next higher rank. It&#39;s not a magical transfer of knowledge and experience when you pin it on. A Soldier should show a gradual improvement over time. Otherwise, it all crap and most CSMs who sit on centralized promotion boards know it. It&#39;s really a struggle to get decent bullets when you&#39;re not in a regular Army unit and not doing regular training or qualifying on your weapon and so on. <br /><br />I made the SFC list with 8 1/2 years TIS and got pinned a year later. You&#39;ll be fine. SFC Private RallyPoint Member Wed, 12 Jul 2017 09:32:49 -0400 2017-07-12T09:32:49-04:00 Response by CSM Michael J. The rating tells me that you&#39;ve met the standards, this level of performance is considered normal and typically demonstrated by a majority of NCOs of the same grade.<br /><br />You present a great question, here&#39;s more information FYSA:<br /><a target="_blank" href="https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Evaluation%20Systems%20Homepage">https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Evaluation%20Systems%20Homepage</a> <div class="pta-link-card answers-template-image type-default"> <div class="pta-link-card-picture"> </div> <div class="pta-link-card-content"> <p class="pta-link-card-title"> <a target="blank" href="https://www.hrc.army.mil/content/Evaluation%20Systems%20Homepage">HRC Homepage</a> </p> <p class="pta-link-card-description"> Toll-Free: 1-888-ARMY-HRC (1-888-276-9472) DSN: 983-9500 askhrc.army@us.army.mil</p> </div> <div class="clearfix"></div> </div> CSM Michael J.
