Will someone who remembers 1946 explain to me why the movie "It's A Wonderful Life" was targeted by the FBI as Communist prapoganda?

This said it all for me:
- J Edgar Hoover
- "From 1942 to 1958, the Los Angeles field office investigated more than 200 movies, fearing they had been turned into weapons of communist propaganda, as John A. Noakes wrote in “The Cold War and the Movies.”..."
- according to the article the field agent took issue with vilifying bankers, the negative image if capitalism, which translated to them as yeah communism

PO3 Phyllis Maynard
LTC Jason Mackay so are we looking at a lone wolf that used the environment of the time to create an issue or was it more organized and inline with those who supported Joseph McCarthy?

LTC Jason Mackay
PO3 Phyllis Maynard it was pervasive throughout the Federal government except Dept of State. To single out a particular agent would be like handing out speeding tickets at the Indy 500
