Will the Air Force accept prior-service Army who want to reclassify into a different job field?

I'm currently still serving my first term in the army with about 6 months left. I haven't really been able to find a solid answer that pertains to this. I'm currently an 11B but want to go into an intelligence field in the AF.

You will have to talk with an Air Force Recruiter. As long as your ASVAB scores are good and there are opening then it should not be an issue.

It happens all the time. Especially on the Guard/Reserve side. I was once in a Air Guard unit that more prior Army and Marines than prior Air Force. As previously mentioned you will need to talk to a AF recruiter and make sure your ASVAB scores are high enough. Minimum ASVAB requirements are much higher in the AF than the Army.

Good luck to you, I switched from Green to Blue many years ago. While I enjoyed my Army time, going Air Force was a great move for me.

First things firt; the AF rarely take prior service. Second; if accepted, get ready to be demoted to E2 or E3. Third; you must wait 6 months after your ets date before you can do anything with any branch. Ensure your RE code is a 1, or you may not be able to get in. Have you considered a new MOS? there are huge bonuses for reenlistment into certain MOSs.

I was just wondering...associates? Bachelor's? Major or majors? Grades and/or GPA so far as you might want to elaborate? What is your object ultimately? Senior enlisted? Since you're wanting USAF, I'm supposing not necessarily warrant, though I'd be curious if you'd thought about that aspect at all? Commissioned? I might he able to suggest some assignment possibilities, as well, if they might interest you, I don't want to overwhelm, I just have an interest in career/education questions, I'm total perm disabled, so time jamgs quite heavily for my wife and myself, I get on here and try to chat a good deal....

I just didn't know if you'd ever considered trying for an assignment here, whether Army or USAF...also, have you looled at other svcs as well at all? You might also find this quite useful...from what I've observed, geodesy is rather inextricably intertwined with surveying, so, combining civil engrg wit getting licensure as a profsnl engr (PE) and licensed land surveyor (LS), along with getting a PhD in geodetic science, ultimately, would seem to get you to the top of that food chain, I should think, if you might he inclined in that direction....

Anyone in good standings, that meets physical qualifications and all prerequisites can transfer branch service. Mind you, there might be some hell to pay for not re-enlisting with current branch. There will be a lot of counseling and maybe some juicey dicey promises. Just keep in mind to be honest and straight shooting with recruiter. Let their bosses work out the transfer details. I will advise you that you may lose a stripe in the process but normally regain within 90 days, usually upon completion of training. Good Hunting!

Why make it so difficult by changing branches? The Army has MI if you didnt know. We have a more diverse field of Intelligence. More opportunity to do the high speed stuff and more assignment locations let me guess. Your tired of the field and the Army. Go to an inscom unit their only field time is an indoor strategic exercise...Totally different to what your used to I am in an MI Bde now and was Infantry for 9 years. 90% of these Soldiers have never spent a night in the field.
