Mack Martin 5822512

Hi Sir/ Ma'am,

I just would like to know if it will going to be difficult for me to get back into the Army with a history of quitting back in 2016. My RE-Code is 3 and I have spoken with many recruiters and station commander as well and they all have the same answer - YES unless with health issues which I don't have. With that said, I have questions to ask regarding my situation:

1. Is it going to be difficult for me when I go back to OSUT?
2. Will my platoon Drill Sergeants can find out that I quit? Are they going to interrogate me why I came back and why did I quit?
3. Is it going to affect my promotion from E-4 to E5 or applying to OCS after basic?

I would greatly appreciate any thoughts, ideas, opinions and suggestions regarding this. Thank you in advance!

Regards,
Mack Will there be difficulties on me if I rejoin again? 2020-04-27T12:47:03-04:00 Mack Martin 5822512

Hi Sir/ Ma'am,

I just would like to know if it will going to be difficult for me to get back into the Army with a history of quitting back in 2016. Going back to OSUT again will only be as difficult as you make it.

2. Your Drill Sergeants will have no idea you quit the first time unless you tell them. To avoid interrogation on the subject, just don't bring it up.

3. It won't affect your promotion from E-4 to E-5. It will be a non-factor, because this would be a fresh enlistment period. Besides, you didn't finish training last time, so you were never MOS qualified or assigned to an active Army unit. You are what is called Glossary Non-Prior Service. You will in essence be treated like the first go around didn't exist after the waiver is approved, if it does get approved (no guarantees)! Why? Do not enlist again unless you have a different attitude. Once you commit to something you see it through. Quitting is not an option, or do not enlist. Are you sure you are ready for the challenge this time? If you think you are, find a good recruiter and send up the packet. I would highly recommend if you do get to come back in, you keep your first enlistment to yourself until you graduate OSUT/AIT. In my unit we had a Navy guy that quit week 4 of his training and got to come back in. He told people, it did not fair out very well for him... he did make it, but it seemed a little harder for him. I’m sorry, but the military in general, due to the nature of the work, does not have time for individuals who quit. It’s only as difficult as it would’ve been before you quit, maybe slightly more difficult now since you have a conception of there being an “easy way out”.

2. If you don’t tell them, they won’t know. But since you’re talking about it here, it’s highly likely you’ll tell someone.

3. No.

You can get back in with paperwork submitted through your recruiter. No one on this site will make your previous quitting any less impactful than it is. Once the ability to quit is in your psyche, it’s going to be hard to shake. Traditionally, after quitting something once, it’s much easier to quit all over again. Focus on yourself, and do your best.
