Gas prices continue their roller coaster ride at the pumps. But will we ever see them dip below $1.75 a gallon again? What do you think? How high will a gallon of regular get in the U.S. in your lifetime?

Probably not.

If we do I am afraid it will because the bottom dropped out and we are deep in a recession or depression.

I don't think so. 1 yr ago the price of oil was near $100 and gas was $3.50 - twice as much as your target. Today, oil is fluctuating at HALF the price it was a year ago and gas prices are not even CLOSE to $1.75. It's not the whole story - I know - but there would have to be a major economic shift for that to happen.

Maybe. It was under $2.00 here not too long ago. The problem is, be careful what you wish for. What is causing the price to be driven down this far? Some times this is a good thing, some times it might be a two edged issue.

Oil is trading in the $45 dollar a barrel range - 1 year ago it was near $100. There is a glut of oil on market with increase of US production and middle eastern oil. In southern Illinois my Mom paid $1.92 for a gallon. Depending on taxes and other factors $1.75 may happen. Reality oil in the $60 range is better for US oil produces and fuller employment.

Yes of course if you move to the Middle East. I don't think it's worth it to save on gas.
