Will you automatically get put on orders after a compassionate reassignment expires?

Some compassionate reassignments are approved for up to 12 months. Will you automatically get put on orders after the 12 months? If not, can you request to be put on orders?

A Soldier will be automatically coded with an assignment eligibility and availability code (AEA code) of "L" which means they are eligible for a normal PCS assignment (AR 614-200, 5-11e)*.

Does this mean the Soldier will have orders in hand as soon as their code is changed? Not likely. It means that they are now available as a round peg to fill a round hole and will be processed through the standard assignment system.
