No MSG, I didn't click to open this. I feared the ultimate download of a knife-hand virus that would overtake my system and mock me all day long. No, they say you get the government you deserve, and sadly, the vast majority of this nation's populace is unfit to be led by a man of GEN Mattis's character, so, we shall not see him in the Oval Office, throwing knife-hands at Congress or our adversaries anytime soon.

I figured out from comments that it was a joke, but I opened it anyway...the fact that it shows "219155 trolled people" kinda makes me wonder if maybe he would attract some attention.

I always wanted someone who has been there and knows what it is about. Better to have a president that will not put the weapons in the hands of the enemy and invite the enemy to come in the heart of our country. I hope to one day have some one in office that will think about what they are sending you guys into and our country. I do not no this man personally but being in the service is the big vote for me. It does take more then the service experience to run but he did not make it as far as he did in the military by being stupid or lack of bravery. (BRAVERY needs to be in the hearts of all)

No. I believe that history has shown that general officers don't make exceptionally good presidents. That being said I would gladly have voted for General Powell to be President for I feel he was the exception to the norm.

What I want is a president that heeds the advice of his senior military leaders - not side line them and allow his advisors from the world of acadamia to offer advice and make policy that is in the long run going to do more harm than good.

Unfortunately he's unelectable and his candidacy would dilute the military vote. That's why Independent candidates have a tough time as sizewise Independents can flip an election but can't own one. Historically, the last General we had was Ike. If you take a look at the times and how much of a household word he was, you can see we are not anywhere near that same situation nor visibility of a retired General. The voters went through the war with Eisenhower and the Soviets were scary.

While i am not in favor of a general or admiral serving as President I do favor someone who has served in the Armed Forces. I am a strong believer that everyone that is capable should have some mandatory military commitment or public service commitment.

I mentioned to my niece's husband Ray, a Marine, that I would love to see Mattis as President. He then sent me a similar link claiming Mattis had announced his candidacy. It was a hoax. Ray is now on my naughty list for Christmas.
