So what do you prefer Windows or Apple? We have converted everything this year to Apple - iMac, iPad, iPad mini and iPhones. So far the best move we've made. It's nice Apple doesn't charge you for upgrades to the OS.

I'm a PC user, but my "preference" for Windows depends on the version. I like Windows 7 and Windows XP - Vista and Windows 8, not so much.

I have used windows since the beginning (actually MS-DOS prior to windows). I have nothing against Apple or it's products (other than possibly price) but have never seen the reason to change especially given that everything I do at work has always been using windows. I figure at my age, I see no reason to change now.

For me, it's Windows PC, iPad, iPhone. Don't want to take the plunge out of the Windows PC pool. The water is just so comfortable and nice.

Windows.

Windows keeps me employed. I love that it is buggy, has dubious security, and is the primary target of the malware generators--it all keeps me in demand.

I have been a Mac user since 1986. I have never owned a PC. Also own iPhone and iPad. Regarding the cost of the computer - although I have used Macs for 28 years, I'm only on my 7th computer. Seems like PC owners are replacing their machines every 12-24 months whereas I'm replacing mine on average every 48 months, and most recently it was more like 75 months. So, if they're three times as expensive (they're not) and last three to six times as long....

Both have their good and bad points. Personally I have a strong dislike for Apple products and would rather have a windows product.

Windows, in my opinion it has more versatility. Apple is probably a better option if you aren't computer savvy.

For me Windows has more versatility and freedom of customization. Also, it's the OS that I have to be proficient on as an IT Specialist in the Army, so I'd rather stick to that for simplicity's sake.

Windows, much more concise and easier to navigate than Apple in my opinion, even though Apple is geared more towards "simplicity".

I strongly dislike Apple. When iPhone first came available to Verizon users, I did have one along with an iPad. While they were good for what I needed them for, they were incredibly limiting on what you could and could not do with them. I jailbroke them to alleviate that, but any time a new OS patch came out, I would either be forced to wait for the corresponding jailbreak or be, once again, limited*.

I purchased the Nokia Lumia 928 (Window's Phone) a couple years ago, and I now own a Nokia Lumia 2820 (Window's Tablet) and I love them both. I would not change for anything.

I also have an Alienware PC but I will be doing a custom build when I get back from this tour.

Mircrosoft all the way. So much less limiting.

* By limiting, I mean restrictions on customization and the types of files Apple will allow. Microsoft will read most any type of video file, but if you try and have Apple play an AVI it won't. Also, I was referring to the iOS 4 timeframe, where FaceTime was only allowed over Wi-Fi.

I have used DOS and Windows all my life. At this time we have a Desktop and 4 Laptops running Windows 8.1. For Tablets in the near future after Christmas we will have 2 Android Tablets, 2 iPad mines (for son and daughter), and Kindle Fire (android) due to the fact my wife is true speed reader. Phone wise we have 1 Blackberry (mine Curve and now Z10), 1 android (wife), 1 iPhone4 (daughter), and 1 iPad Touch (son) which when the time comes where it needs to be replaced or he old enough for a phone, it probably be a iPhone.

I went to the Blackberry because at the time I was in School studying for my BS degree in Computer Science and they had the original smart phones before they were call it, and they were quite secured, still are today. Wife when she up-graded up to smart phone, her sister had Samsung Android, so she go the exact model, she has newer Samsung, and now they have iPhone, she hates change. Part of the reason why the tablets are Android, easier learning curve. Kids both got the iPods Touch for Christmas before I graduate, wife father, got sick and was in the hospital over the holiday. We spent a lot of time visiting him, these were gotten for them so for the car rides and while visiting they had something to do, instead of being bored for hours on end. Best investment we every made, especially for Michael. Last year we replaced our daughters iPod with new iPhone 4 to replace both her iPod and cell phone she rarely used. She used it much more, like with the wife trying to teach them something new, we figure to go wit iPad minis for tablets. Keep them on the same accounts info, and pretty much use the same way, just bigger. They both get their money out of device.

Would I convert to Mac. I would like to try it out, could I convert everyone in the house. Probably not. Yes, it is nice that Apple doesn't do that, but with us, we just got our computers anyways. Yes it is nice that Apples give out is OS upgrades.

I use both OS'. Both have good things over the other. I like the free OS updates from Apple. For work, obviously Windows is the way to go. But, since I help a lot of home users, they are going more and more Mac from PC.

It depends on what I am doing. So many government/military sites have proprietary IE code written into them that Windows is necessary to get them to all work correctly. I do like my wife's iMac though.

Android....for my mobile phones. I ditched every Apple device we had. On the PC's at home we are now a Linux Family. Very pleased with both changes and I love my Samsung Galaxy S5.

I grew up using MS-DOS and a 286. Then went all the way to windows XP. Probably the best operating system Microsoft has made to date. But after Windows I converted to Mac and I have not gone back. And we have a lot of apple products. Apple TV, IMac, IBook, IPads, IPods etc... That is all we have. I do have a Xbox one though. So I will say that Microsoft makes a good gaming system.

They just work so flawlessly and doing my graphics art on them well that is what they where designed for. You get what you pay for with Mac.

Mac keeps things simple. It does all the background work for you i.e protection and updates. The downside to utilizing a mac however is when an error occurs thats when it is important to know command line functions to repair it. Half the people I do know using a mac - dont know how to truly operate their operating system. I am a Windows OS kind of guy, dealt with it fir many years. I however, prefer to understand the command line structure for unix, linux and the DOS in case errors on any one particular system do manage to occur. It honestly shouldnt just be about which is better or worse. It should be about knowing to advantages and/or disadvantages when it comes to your particular operating system and actually knowing how things operate in a more sdvanced capacity you know?

When I can build a PC for much less than a Mac, the cost savings is overwhelming. I end up sticking with Windows.

I bought an Apple a few years ago. It's a nice setup with duel screens and they look nice...aside from that I've come to feel it's a piece of crap. Maybe I bought the only Apple lemon but seems as OS upgrades have been pushed to it I've had more and more problems. That little rainbow pinwheel is pretty damn annoying for as much as I sit and watch it spin. I'm replacing it with a PC soon.

Windows. I have used Windows faithfully since the DOS days and have multiple platforms that run Windows (a desktop, laptop, Surface and cell phone). It has its issues, but there is so much I can do with it. I run an entire company through two platforms and an external hard drive utilizing original Microsoft and third party programs. I have looked at Apple and none of it appeals to me in the slightest. I will always stick with Windows, bugs and all.

Windows all the way. Every desktop in the house and my office here on "The Farm" are Windows. I even load Windows XP Professional and Microsoft Office on the PC's I build at night for cancer research. (FAH) Folding at Home. I order all of the components from my Amazon Prime account or New Egg.

I do have one MacBook I use to run all the graphics for church. Praise Team Lyrics, the Ministers Message, Altar call visuals for the big screen and all of the miscellaneous stuff for Wednesday night.

MAC all the way. It can do everything better than windows except gaming while running windows simultaneously.

People have this misconception that Apple computers don't crash. In Windows, you close an application by clicking on the red X. If you do that in Mac, you close the window, but the program remains running. Do this enough times, your computer will slow down and crash as it runs out of resources. You need to close applications with Cmd-Q, or in Finder, go to Close application.

People think Macs are immune to viruses and hacking. Also not so.

Further, Macs are very highly overpriced PCs running Linux/Unix with the Mac OS as a graphic overlay. If you compare the hardware prices of PCs to Macs, it's amazing how expensive the Mac is. And the latest iMac is crazy! IT has a 5K screen with only 2 Gb of VRAM. You need at least 4, preferably 6 Gb to run 4K, so 5K is even more so...

A few years back I had that dilemma or the need to have both OS. So I was compelled into building one of those hackintosh computer systems. Where in one computer system can accommodate 2 or more different OS including MAC OSX. There are setback to it that a lot of times you have to write your own codes for your drivers in order for it to work properly. But now since there is virtualization capabilities available my needs changed.

Started with Basic in High School and use Windows to this day. I have had Macs for a short while. We just inherited my brother-in-law's MacBook. He used it for DJiing while my HP Envy is used primarily for gaming. I have also used Linux/Ubuntu and its various flavors to repurpose older laptops. I honestly can't say with absolute certainty that one OS is "better" as they all have strengths/weakness. Pricewise, I personally feel that I can get more bang for my buck with a Windows machine. Conversely, I use only Apple phones and tablets for mobility.
