While there is Stolen Valor and there are embellishers. They are a unique type. Embellishers actually served but that wasn't good enough. They have to claim addition achievements. Just serving really is fine. I don't understand why some they have to try to pass themselves off as something else. We found one member already that was a fake but now we have an embellisher.

A Stolen Valor Site also caught him.

http://www.rallypoint.com/profiles/23798-18b-special-forces-weapons-sergeant was posted as the profile of SGT Jeff Daley, PhD who stated that he:

*Attended OSUT, 11B Infantryman at Ft Benning - when in reality he attended BCT at Ft Leonard Wood and AIT for 11C Heavy Weapons Infantry (mortars) at Ft Polk
*Attended Airborne, SERE, and SF schools - nope, he never went to any of those schools, nor was he ever assigned to either Ft Benning or Ft Bragg
*Claimed to have had three, back-to-back tours in Vietnam as part of the highly classified, elite MACV-SOG from October 1965 to October 1969
*In reality, he was assigned to the 1-19 IN in Germany from April 1964 to January 1966
*In January 1966 to October 1966, he was assigned to the 188th QM Co (Ammo) at Pleiku
*Claimed to have been going through physical rehab from October 1969 to January 1972
*His records do not show a Purple Heart, CIB, or any award traditionally awarded if one was wounded or injured in a combat zone
*In reality, he was shipped back to CONUS in January 1966 and transferred to the USAR
*He claims to have been a SGT, but his highest rank was SPC

Additionally, he claims a PhD, which he very well may have - but Western Advance Central University is a diploma mill where one can buy an unaccredited doctorate without having to do any real coursework. In some places, like Texas, it is a crime to use a degree from WACU to get a job, etc., where it is presented as an actual degree.

After looking at this whenever I see MACV I am very very cautious. It is the same way when I hear if someone is a Raider or a Marauder. Then if they say they can't talk about or that it is classified then I know it is false. So saying that won't work.

Thanks to Capt Gregory Prickett and SGT (Join to see) for catching this. Great work gentlemen. We need to clean this up and address this. There is no room for this anywhere.

I offered Daley a chance to apologize and ask for forgiveness, after, he changed his RP profile. He continued to disregard the evidence I had, telling me that is because there are some discrepancies on his DD-214. I told him he is the one who caused the descrepancies and he needs to own up to it. Instead of doing so, he wrote a fictitious blog about him in Vietnam with the SF and being in SOG. He wrote, that because he was in SOG, the records are highly confidential as to what and where he was. That's a dead give away there is a chance of a lie being told. That was the first thing that caught my eye. The other was his back, to back, to back, tours in Vietnam and coming out as only an E-5. I knew that was bullshit right away. I sent off for his records a month ago and received them last week. I know how to find out information through the public records, through a contact of mine. I don't mess around with embellishers and phonies. I caught two of them at my VA when I was going through intense PTSD sessions. I checked them out. I found out they were lying, just trying to get a disability rating, and I turned them in. They got booted just like Daley should be. That's my opinion and I'm not attemting to influence anyone.

AB Billie C., Thank you for that. I really hate it happened. I slept on it after I received the FOIA. I wasn't sure what I should do. My first thought was how many people will this hurt, if I expose him. So I decided to go straight to the source and confront him. I figured that would be the best way to handle exposing him if he didn't come clean. He didn't. Instead he wrote a long story of his experiences in SF/SOG. That did it for me. I contacted Capt. Prickett, and we decided to go forward. Daley complained to us that his wife was receiving rude phone calls. We had nothing to do with that, and, he should have thought about that before he got caught lying. I do feel sorry for his wife, if she is receiving those calls. Someone asked how could she not know. My wife believes everything I tell her about my time in Vietnam. Besides that, I have positive proof of what I tell her. So, his wife wouldn't have known anything, except what he told her. So, whoever made that statement about his wife should think about what they are asking about an innocent wife. That's about all I want to say about this anymore. Thanks for understanding. I'm very sorry you had to go through proving yourself to someone that wanted to make problems for you. Sometimes I wonder if those people like that have something to hide themselves. Take care, Keith

SGT (Join to see) - I will just say you can't trust them. After he got his chance to come clean he didn't. That is odd how he claims his wife got these phone calls. I don't believe him with his claims about being MACV and I don't believe his claims about these phone calls.

CPT Russell Pitre, I don't believe him either. He's got a pair though. He's still on RP.

CPT Russell Pitre - It's been my experience that real SF vets don't talk about, much less brag about, their service. That's always been a clue that someone isn't really what they're claiming. I've never been able to understand a faker or an "embellisher".

PO3 Sandra Gomke - I heard of one guy that was wearing some questionable stuff about his service in Nam. He ended up being legit. But that is rare. It is true that SF guys aren't the type that go around and brag about their war stories.

CPT Russell Pitre - Sir, Believe it or not . I had something close to that happen. During Storm and Shield we had tasking to build in secrecy Tank Decoys and artillery Decoys and we take a 21 man team up to the border and link up with the Marine Task Force Troy that was doing the primary portion of the left hook deception mission. It was a total of 265 personnel form USMC and task elements from army Psyops and Air force Intel and some other units but we were the only Seabee element and Navy other than some Corpsman. Any way we got back to Gulf Port are home Port station and that is the east coast home of the Seabees. One night my buddy's and I were out at a small bar and you could hear this guy running his suck and he was talking about some facts on that mission and one of my guys that was in my unit said hey wasn't that the mission you guys went on I said yep and then my buddy's called him told him he was full of shit in front of everyone and he left. Found out later he was in one of the Seabee units that was not even over there. He was a shit bag that just got kicked out so I think that is the big thing with them is they had a bad time in the service.

CPT Aaron Kletzing, Because they don't think anyone would take them to task, and they think they can get away with it. But, sooner or later they get challenged, and then here comes even more lies, making it worse. Outside of those reasons, I don't have a clue.

Personally, I am not going to waste my time chasing and questioning people. It's OK if others decide a different course. If they are lying, then they are sad sad people.

LTC (Join to see), Sir, I don't go around looking for this stuff, but when it slaps you in the face, and you realize there are RP members who praised him and thought of him as a hero, and sharing their stories about a relative who was Airborne, or SF, or in MACV/SOG, and he answers them like he's one of the boys, it's wrong. It makes fools out of those who praised him. So, anyway Sir, I want you to know I'm not a poser or liar hunter, but I will make sure they are busted if they continue to lie and fabricate.

SGT (Join to see) - I was not taking issue with anything you are doing. I was just saying, I wasn't going to spend too much time worrying about it. When these people begin to share/embellish their stories, it becomes obvious to those with similar experience. Carry on.
