MY dependent's are out of the country till 20JAN19. I honestly, didn't know that they would have to go through EFMP screening even though they're not enrolled. I was told EFMP screening can take up to 6 weeks, and then I have to ask for command sponsorship along with transportation and other PCS related issues. Most likely I will miss my report date. <br /> Should I ask my commander to move my report date 30 days later? Should I notify my gaining unit about it?With my EFMP screening being delayed, should I ask my commander to move my report date 30 days later?2018-12-29T11:35:21-05:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member4244063<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I'm in school till 25Feb19 and in 05DEC18 got projections to Germany with report date of 10MAR19. I would be surprised if they adjusted your report date. Also - this isn’t out of the ordinary...all kinds of folks travel ahead of their families until they can get Command sponsorship.Response by LTC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 29 at 2018 12:01 PM2018-12-29T12:01:22-05:002018-12-29T12:01:22-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4244180<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>Your commander can't do anything. If this is a school that was arranged through retention and it's a follow on assignment your career counselor can request a deferment for you. If the assignment was through your branch manager you can request a deferment through S1, abut expect to PCS without them. You can still get them command sponsored once you are in Germany.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 29 at 2018 12:11 PM2018-12-29T12:11:35-05:002018-12-29T12:11:35-05:001SG Private RallyPoint Member4244519<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>For those who say PCS and get command sponsorship after you arrive: What happens if the family member can't be accommodated?Response by 1SG Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 29 at 2018 3:12 PM2018-12-29T15:12:34-05:002018-12-29T15:12:34-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4245325<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I highly recommend you make an appt for your family now for the EFMP Screening because that’s usually what takes the longest; schedule the appt so they can have the appt as soon as they return. They would need to have the EFMP Screening form which is a DA Form 5888 and you should be able to get this from reassignment. Once the screening is complete take the form back to reassignment so they can scan and email to the overseas housing location to check for availability of housing (they usually get a response by 3-5 duty days). I hope this helps. Good luck...Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 30 at 2018 2:17 AM2018-12-30T02:17:05-05:002018-12-30T02:17:05-05:00SFC Private RallyPoint Member4245327<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>By the way, you don’t have to ask for Command sponsorship however you do have to inform reassignment that you elect to serve a with dependent tour which will be 3yrs.Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Dec 30 at 2018 2:18 AM2018-12-30T02:18:52-05:002018-12-30T02:18:52-05:002018-12-29T11:35:21-05:00
