With regards to stolen valor, which do you see as a bigger problem?

There are typically two groups of imposters within the issue of stolen valor:
1) Those who actually did serve for any amount of time but decided to embellish their service records by claiming awards or badges they did not earn.
2) Imposters who never served at all but do it for the attention and/or benefits of those who did serve.

In your opinion, which of these is more despicable? I would go with the latter because wannabes are inherently more selfish and simply vy for attention they didn't deserve. But if it is their constitutional right to lie as long as they didn't profit from it, at least it's our constitutional right to expose their lies and convert whatever attention they received into well-deserved shame.

I'd say #1 because I would expect more from a service member.

#2 because they are defrauding veterans out of both valor and benefits. Greed is their motivation whereas those in #1 are motivated by feeling a lack of something. They think by embellishing their service record, they can feel whole. While sad and pathetic, I see them as more innocent than those driven by stealing VA benefits which essentially takes from our real vets.

Would probably have to be number two. I cant stand to see jokers claimimg their veterans and not serving a day in there life.

Definitely #1 because they should know better and know that what they did may not have been the most heroic or anything, or even if it was, they should know that at least they had the intestinal fortitude to serve

Both are disrespecting those men and woman who sacrificed for this country. Those who earned those medals. Stolen Valor in any form is a crime in my eyes.

I have to say #2 because they get seen by the public as the real thing and it tarnishes the military as a whole.

But since this is a military site ill let you all know that I am a Navy seal recon-scout sniper SF trained, ranger sapper delta operator..but its all classified so i trust you now to tell anyone....:) stay frosty brothers and sisters
