With the constant controversy surrounding these two should we be taking the time to look at Gary Johnson as the next POTUS?

I have recently done a good deal of research into the Libertarian candidate and I believe he may be the best option available for POTUS.

Best option, or not at this point in history a candidate from a third party is not electable. The majority will vote Democrat, or Republican.

He actually looks like a good choice even if these were "normal" times and the two major parties were providing us with decent choices. I must admit though (and I'm ashamed to admit it) that I fear Hillary winning. I just can't chance throwing my vote away tilting at windmills.

Had the Democratic Party taken a serious look at Jim Webb and were they about to nominate him, I believe the Dems could lock this election up. Instead we are stuck in a place where the only two front runners are only viable because of how many people hate the other!

Problem is he could never garner enough support. As CPT Jack Durish points out, many on the right can't risk Hillary winning. And therefore will not risk their vote on that possibility. IMO Clinton is the worse case scenario for America. But I have to admit I can't stand Trump.

I voted for Governor Johnson in 2012 and will vote for him this year. Of course I've always leaned a little libertarian especially on social issues.

He seems to be the least of the evils. The Democrats handed the election to the Republicans by pushing Hillary through the primaries, but the Republicans had to go and mess that up.

Johnson has no chance. Might as well vote for yourself. He also might not be real good for the military since he has wanted to bring all troops back from everywhere. He is mostly an isolationist and would have no need for the military. I read up a lot on him when he ran last time. Basically he is a liberal on most issues except for fiscal. He recently said that he agrees about 73% with Bernie. He is not anti-gun which I like but he is for open borders and amnesty which is a deal breaker for me. Actually all that he can hope to accomplish as a third party candidate is to siphon votes from Trump and help Hillary win.

How many times do we need to look at him? He will get the normal 5-8%, then try again in four years to lose again. He'll bring out Ralph Nader, he has just as much chance. Do any of you know what ballot access is?

He may have been a good choice, but now as many on here have said. He will simply siphon votes off one of the other two. That does no good in the long run. That being said the great thing about our country is you are free to vote for the candidate of your choice. Although before you do, look at the two major party candidates and ask yourself two questions.
1) If you had to pick one of the two, let's use Trump and Hillary for example, who would you pick to be POTUS.
2) Will your vote for that third party candidate make it more or less likely your choice in question one will be elected.
Since it is very very very unlikely Gary Johnson could be elected, why waste your vote? Certainly you have the right to vote any way you want, but if it puts in the one you least support in office, then why vote that way or even vote at all? I guess you could do so to make a statement but beyond that it does not seem sensible.

I myself am a member of the Libertarian party and am torn on who to vote for.
On the one hand he would make a very good President in my opinion.
On the other hand, our two-party system is broken and voters are too afraid to vote with their heads and would rather play it safe and vote along party lines, even if their candidate is bat shit crazy (that applies equally to Trump, Clinton, and Sanders).

I value my vote, and I don't plan on voting for neither of the two party candidates, Gary Johnson has just a good a message without all the RUMP and Billary BULL that is going on. Gary Johnson was two time Republican Governor of NM (A very Democratic state) fiscal conservative, keep a strong military and stop being World Police. He's getting my vote. And Remember if you "Don't Vote, DON'T GRUMBLE.. You have to vote to make a difference.

That's your choice and your call- it is also why politics outside of voting on election day should remain taboo in the Military
