CSM Michael J. Uhlig - I believe they will be given the opportunity to attend SEAL training, just like they were given the opportunity to attend Ranger School. Could they succeed without exceptions or lowering of standards? That is left to be seen.

I think it is only a matter of time before standards will be lowered across the board to allow females to be able to be do anything men are allowed to do. The social engineers will not be satisfied with only the two extraordinary women who have been able to complete Ranger School. They are not at all concerned about the impact on the military.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig I believe it will happen. I'm bummed that SFC Mark Merino beat me to the GI Jane movie comment and I agree with COL Jean (John) F. B. comments about the standards. I was always a firm believer in letting women participate in all branches of the service and still believe in that, but I also thought they should be able to meet the same standards. When I think about that in todays' Army we already have different standards for women when it comes to the APFT, so it stands to reason there will be different standards for the women in the Seals, Rangers, etc. I'm curious if the female rangers passed the male or female version of the APFT (if it is required in Ranger School)? Rangers what say ye?

They might open it up, but I do not think a female can pass SEAL with out the standards being lowered. SEAL is not a tab, they are operators. there is a difference! Not taking from our Ranger brothers, but there are some that just get the tab and move on. The Ranger Batt is a world of it's own. They are a special breed. HOOOAH rangers lead the way.

It will more then likely happen; but first they will have to do training in all the Teams to inform them what will no longer be accepted. Then there will be a couple years of figuring how how they will select the female canadaits and the back and forth about weather to raise or lower the standard for them. But i see it happening.

I'm sure there will be those that try, but I seriously doubt more that the same percentage as the Rangerettes will make it. But, it isn't an issue flunking out, from a query as to why SEAL candidates fail. "Coach, why do most guys quit at BUDS? There are a mixed bag of reasons but from my observations most quitters emerged in the night after getting cold in the surf. Going back in the surf one more time was just too much. Guys don’t quit at the doorway to the chow hall when they are getting ready for a hot meal and a sit down."

I believe that they will open the BUDS school to women in the next 1-2 years. I have no idea how long it will take a female to successfully complete the program....could be on the first attempt, could take 10 years....could be never. Time will tell.

I can see this happening just they did for fighter pilots and other leadership roles . I just would not put a time line on any change of policy . I have seen so much change in the past 42 years. I would never say it can't happen or won't happen , I will say change happens in it due time!

This will be the standard by the end of the month. Women will have the opportunity to attend any course, any training, or any selection process CSM Michael J. Uhlig .... or at least by years end. I believe anyone should have the "opportunity to try," so long as they meet the Standards, and the standards are not lowered COL Jean (John) F. B. stated. That has be my concern for many years.
