Currently working on my packet for WOCS and Flight School, I'm hoping to submit it for the November board. Does anyone have any helpful tips on what to work on before hand? Funny stories about their experience? TIA

WOCS is relatively easy. In reality, there's only about 23 training days. However, every class, people fail the initial PT test, and it's common for 15-25 people in a class to first time fail land nav (you get two chances). It's a very small course. Most failures come from people not understanding how to plot or shoot and don't speak up for help, rather than people busting time or getting lost. Stay diligent in the areas you should already be proficient in and you'll be fine. WOCS doesn't really introduce anything new, except maybe a few behavioral standards. Focus time on getting housing. I got on the housing list in March before my class started. It's June and I still haven't heard back. I had been looking off post and had something else lined up. Good luck with your packet, we'll see you soon.

Do they still have seperate classes for NCOs and Lower Enlisted/Civilian?
Did those that failed the initial APFT get immediately dropped from the class?

Land Navigation is something I'm brushing up on. I've never really had a problem with it, I just haven't actively conducted it in a little while so the practice won't hurt.

Housing is something I've been looking into, I've been told that Enterprise has some nice areas off post for a decent price. I'm not completely against living on post either. I'll start to inquire about that more when I submit my packet and get a class date.
Thanks for the input Sir!

There's no separate classes, regardless of your experience. It's my understanding that if you fail the initial APFT, you get dropped from the course immediately, however, those that failed our initial APFT ended up getting recycled to the next class after us, so take from that what you will. I just wouldn't plan on failing anything.

As far as land nav, we had about 18 first time failures, and only 2 second time failures. They spend time retraining you if you have any issues.

You'll be getting ~$1100 in BAH after you graduate. It's not uncommon to find 3 bed/3 bath housing/condos for $800-900. So there's a lot of options whether you want to find roommates and pocket as much BAH as you can, or max it out.

Just remember, don't get your head too wrapped up in WOCS. If you want to prepare for anything before hand, housing and basic airport/aviation knowledge will benefit you best.

Sounds like it shouldn't be too difficult then.
I've been doing quite a bit of familiarization with basic aviation, and have been fortunate enough to be able to get hands on with one of the UH-60M models to familiarize myself a little bit with the aircraft. Im excited to go through WOCS and complete it, but I'm more excited to go to flight school because I've been wanting to fly ever since I was a little kid.

Thanks again for the input sir!

Run, run, and run.

Also, get well acquainted with the new PT test., it nay well be in full effect by the time you actually get to through selection and go to WOCS

Running is definitely something I've been working hard on, but I'm sure WOCS will help me improve even more.

I haven't had a chance to run through the ACFT yet so that is something I will be completely new to, but I'm familiar with the exercises so practicing wont be too hard.
I really appreciate the input SFC.
