Waiver is recruiting battalion commander. (Edited: REC BN CDR conducts initial determination, then it is forwarded to DA G-1 for waiver consideration, ref AR 670-1 3-3.i-k).
Was it documented by memorandum and photo in your Army Military Human Resource Record (AMHRR) during your last period of service.
AR 670-1. 3-3. i.
Appropriate authorities for accession determinations are listed in subparagraphs (1) through (6), below.
(1) Accessions recruiting battalion commanders (O–5 or above), or the recruiting battalion executive officer (O–4) who has been appointed as acting commander via assumption of command orders in the absence of the battalion commander, will make initial entry determinations for new accessions that tattoos or brands comply with this policy for Active Army (AA) and USAR Soldiers. This authority will not be delegated further.

Acknowledged, the authority for any waiver, as cited, is the Recruiting BN Cdr.
Nothing to do with DA G-1. (Edited: REC BN CDR conducts initial determination, then it is forwarded to DA G-1 for waiver consideration).

1SG (Join to see) incorrect 1SG there is a USAREC Message that states any tattoo that is in violation of 670-1 must go to DA G1 for consideration of waiver

1SG (Join to see) you’ve also got to go down to 3-3 i to see where it talks about DA G1

SFC (Join to see) I stand corrected. I now see the reference to DA G-1 in k.
3-3. i. was posted in it entirety, but the key word I read (yet missed) "initial," is where I erred. Should have kept reading.
So, REC BN CDR does initial (confirms it doesn't comply, or does), then refers it to DA G-1 for a determination--Incredible.
Thanks, I knocked out 20.

Your statement is unclear. It appears as if you are currently serving, and likely got the Tat while serving. If so you will likely not receive a waiver, in fact your unit can take other action against you. I would resommend you speak off line with he retention NCO and get a feel for the current environment. I would also say that If whatvivstatedbisbtruebyouvare in violation, and your NCOs are a bit slow on the uptake. Thank you for your service.

It is not about the recruiter it is two fold, one the requirement for a waiver and re-entry. You are essentially a double waiver and you separated once before. Since you separated in the past the military often sees this as a continued risk, your tatoo is out of parameters for current policy. It is easier to find a new requirement who does not require waivers. It is most often about whether or not the military is meeting it enlistment goals as to whether or not waivers will be provided for anything. If you are motivated, don’t give up, it just may require more wait time. Thank you for your service. SPC Patrick Lumpkin

I apologize if this comes twice, I just got an error message. You what can be seen as a risk as you present a double waiver, reentry and tattoo. As long as the military is meeting enlistment goals waivers are harder to come by. Think about this, if a recruiter has easy access to recruits without waivers why would he or she do the extra work. Frankly commanders will not waiver if they have first time recruits. This is not to say that you have no chance, you are in awaiting game based on need.

You do not do anything in the waiver process. The process is about 2 months right now. If it gets approved you are good to go
