Would a letter of recommendation from multiple officers on active duty Army help me in my attempts to try and go from Reserves to Active?

To all the non-recruiters giving advise please sit down. For the SPC with the question. First off you have to meet the Prior Service business rules. Then you have to submit the DD 368 with a 4187 requesting release to go active. With a narrative why you want to do this. This has to be signed by either the first adjutant general or the authorized signature authority. In the reserves it means that it has to go to USARC. If approved you have 6 months from the date that the 368 is signed to sign into AD. I would suggest finding a recruiting station that has an AGR Recruiter working there. They are usually more willing to help and work you in the right direction.

In reality it wouldn't help. There are two big hurdles that you are going to have to get over. First, you will need a conditional release from you CoC. They aren't always willing to do this. It depends on they are willing to lose a Soldier. Some units aren't. If they are low on their readiness numbers then they are not going to be so willing to sign. Next, you are going to see if the Army is looking for MPs. That is going to be the needs of the Army. In both of these cases a letter of recommendation won't change if a unit needs your or if the Army wants you. It is just the way things are. Best of luck.

I appreciate the feedback! I'm not MOSq'd as a 31B with my unit and will have to reclass into another unit, seeing as how I just moved. I won't have 1 yr left on my contract if they do send me to school so my options are ride it out until I ETS or go AD. The one MOS I am qualified in is 14T which is understrength and at the needs of the Army currently and I am more than willing to take that MOS back to get in AD.
Do you recommend going through the hurdles or will it be easier to come back after o ETS?

It would be easier trying while you are still in. It took me 8 months to get everything lined up to go from the Guard to AD.
