I my self am not effected by it. It doesn't smell, it doesn't linger and it does not distract me. I think he/she would be more efficient in the workplace if they did not have to go outside every 30 minutes. What's your opinion on E-CIGS in the workplace?

All has to do with image. Soldiers, smoking anything detracts from a professional image. What if a civilian saw a bunch of service-members puffing on pipes, in an office, while in uniform?
It's much more acceptable for them to stand outside in a Charlie-Foxtrot formation smoking real cancer-sticks. Out of sight and out of mind.

This is a ridiculous policy.

I agree. I know some RNs and they have actually starting banning smoking and e-cigs on medical campuses for the same reason, professional image. I think also if you are worried about professional image, then also do something about overweight folks. I'm a former RN and was admittedly pretty heavy then and my weight did affect me at times in my job. I know that this won't happen though because someone will call it fat discrimination. At east offer some incentive (I mean civillian sector) to lose weight and quit smoking to enhance the image.
I've never smoked, but I think even my in my job, alot of the Federal Workers smoke congregate right outside the office less than a few feet from the doors and I have to walk right by all of it to go into my building. I think it detracts from a professional image as well.
My two cents.

Might as well allow hookahs too then by that logic.

How does that make any sense? Do you know what a e cig is? Water vapors. How is that any thing like a hookah? Please explain

Oh is that right? Take a picture of the side of the box and show me where it says "water vapor". That's like saying taking a bing hit is just "water vapor."

I wouldnt be upset, just dont smoke it so much that you see clouds everywhere when you walk in. Especially since people think its okay to use chewing tobacco inside just because there is no smoke. E-cig cont contain any tobacco

Since I mix my own e liquids I can say that it's not water vapor. It's primarily vaporized propylene glycol (PG) and vegetable glycerin (VG) with nicotine and whatever flavoring added. I'm not even going to argue on this thread, just want to point out that technically there may be some water in the vapor but it's not "water vapor".

Since you asked my opinion, then here it is: I don't feel that allowing e-cigs in the workplace makes a person more efficient. No one should be taking a break every 30 min FOR ANY REASON.
Professionally, it's just an inappropriate and offensive to smoke an e-cig in a building as it is to be chewing tobacco in a building.

*Note* I do not use nor do I support the use of tobacco products in any form.
