Would appealing to have your DD214 codes upgraded affect your VA disability?

Cont'd: My sister is prior Navy, like myself. She wants to re-enlist as an officer, but her RE-3P code won't allow for that. I told her about upgrading her enlistment codes and she asked how it would affect her VA benefits if she isn't able to return.

Can't double dip in this situation. If you go back on active duty - loose the VA disability. If you go Reserve you loose VA disability for the days you are on duty for the month: http://www.veteranstoday.com/2009/03/27/veterans-lose-va-ratings-vet-status-and-compensation-when-returning-to-active-duty/

If she tries and can't get back in, then she will continue on receiving benefits.

No it's a totally different area. The VA and military do not communicate unless they absolutely have to which is not likely in your case..
