Would criminal driving charges (reckless driving) along with a few civil traffic charges stop someone from getting into OCS?

Prior enlisted in NG, degree in electrical and computer engineering with 2.8 GPA, no issues with prior enlistment (didn't even get any actions against me from army for the reckless driving)

Well get your record expunged, I’m not an officer but with a GPA like that then is wil be real hard. You might want to try to be a warrant officer instead!

Ask a recruiter. Anyone here with similar circumstances might not want to share it on the WWW. It's worth a try, but going to the source will get you the best answer. All they can say is yes, no, or maybe.

Who they will take for OCS changes from year to year--your best bet is to talk to your recruiter.

As far as I recall; record got to be squeaky clean prior to the OCS Board. A friend of mine had couple speeding tickets and didn't get endorsed by his CoC. There are many factors considered in an OCS packet that only a recruiter can shed clear light on SPC Private RallyPoint Member.

Quite possibly - they will do a complete background check, and criminal charges are not what they would look for in an Officer. You might have a problem.

Depends on how long ago your traffic offenses were... if you have a spotless record over the past 3 to 5 years I believe that your chances improve greatly. Best advice is to talk to a recruiter... they should have a good grip on what's going to fly and what's going to crash. If the RA isn't interested, then you might consider ARNG OCS...

Criminal driving charges are typically aggravated misdemeanors. Most traffic violations are simple misdemeanors that the Court has ruled you and the State can settle the matter financially. When you start getting into Reckless, Careless or DUI/DWI the Army sits up and takes notice.

This is going to depend in the length of time that has elapsed since your conviction. Talk to your recruiter.

I had to have a moral waiver to become an officer.
