Would having a tummy tuck surgery bar someone from rejoining after a break in service?

A buddy of mine ask me a good question. If she wanted to reenlist now, after several years of being out, but got a tummy tuck about a yr ago...would that bar her from going back in?
Obviously “ask a recruiter” will happen...but for now...does anything be have any insight into this topic?

As long as it doesn’t prevent her from performing her duties and responsibilities, especially PT, then she’ll be fine. Good luck to you, I hope this helps...

No. It's a cosmetic procedure done for aesthetics. As long as the person can still perform the range of motion, PT etc., then it would not be an issue. If anything it would help as it takes away some of that tissue that would have been measured in a tape.

It shouldn't as long as she doesn't have any service limiting conditions. Make sure your "friend" also has documentation from a doctor stating that there is nothing abnormal about the healing process nor do they have any restrictions in daily life. That will assist when the recruiter and MEPS when they go through the medical packet. One less step your friend has to take.

It depends on the nature of the "tummy tuck" you need to check the DoDI 6130.03, AND AR 40-501. What was the nature of the surgery? She will also be required to have all surgical notes and medical documentation from the surgery. If she had a "tummy tuck" which also included any type of bariatric surgery, that is a disqualifier.

Not sure if this still applies.....I did my last over 40 National Guard Enlistment Physical outside of MEPS at a Naval flight Reserve Clinic....2002...19D in the middle of USN fighter pilots....When...I filled out forms it was always truthfully executed in bad cursive... loaded with acronyms...But even though I was over weight...I taped out...I could also do 65 push ups...80 sit ups...and walk...One thing I learned...If I run my mouth...I get waivered... when I wrote it down...always truthfully...they pass it....so what is the Latin Medical term for Tummy Tuck again...

As far as I know, the first two weeks should be as gentle as possible in the living conditions, so it is recommended not to go to work before this period.
