Well, that will depend on where you are assigned to and what equipment the unit has on hand.MSG Private RallyPoint MemberSat, 13 Nov 2021 12:17:31 -05002021-11-13T12:17:31-05:00Response by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 13 at 2021 3:52 PM

25B's work in the S6, so you do whatever the S6 needs you to do. Sometimes that is help desk tickets, sometimes that is fixing a printer, sometimes that is filling the commanders vehicle radio - we're all still in the Army.

You're not a CMF 25 right now, so whatever CMF 25 job you reclass into you will get more experience than you are getting right now. You could be a 25B, N, Q, E, and you would still be in an S6 setting up a TOC and doing the same job as everyone else. Don't waste your time idealizing some dream MOS, take the first one that has a class seat you meet the pre-requisites for and, in time, you will have opportunities to increase your education level.SFC Private RallyPoint MemberSat, 13 Nov 2021 15:52:18 -05002021-11-13T15:52:18-05:00Response by SSG Andrew Chriss made Nov 14 at 2021 1:16 AM

Anyone with any time in Service will tell you all situations are mission and unit dependent. If you are assigned to a Comm Unit and they have an overabundance of Communications MOSs you may have little and nothing to do with COMMs. Conversely if you are assigned to a unit with few Comms personnel you may be operating many levels above your MOS qualifications. Like anywhere in Service you adapt and you're all about the Unit Mission which provides you more opportunities to show your stuff. Or you don't and you're more grist for the mill.SSG Andrew ChrissSun, 14 Nov 2021 01:16:15 -05002021-11-14T01:16:15-05:00Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Nov 18 at 2021 8:06 PM

From reading all of these responses, if you are aiming to do your job as a 25B I would try your best to get in a SOF unit. I've been in 10th SFG(A) for the past 3 years now and yeah I've done other MOS' such as 25S and 25C but that's just part of the job, to cross-train. In the S6 though, we do more than the conventional army from what I see. Part of it is submitting remedy tickets but the rest I'll write out.

Re-image computers,
Call Dell Technicians for parts or contractors to come out and fix laptops,
Configure printers,
Install software,
Install drivers,
Set up VTC's,
Patch ports in rooms,
Access to Active Directory and ARS,
Handle network incident reports,

And if there is an issue with a port or computer, we have our local Helpdesk, Networking, and Infrastructure contractors I can call and fix something within a few minutes or maybe days if it's a new network drop that needs to be installed. Sometimes they ask if I have a ticket in for it and I submit one and approve it myself since I'm one of the approving authorities. That takes a few minutes. Our helpdesk call center is different from the conventional army too but I rarely use them unless I really can't fix it on my own.SSG Private RallyPoint MemberThu, 18 Nov 2021 20:06:33 -05002021-11-18T20:06:33-05:00Response by SSG Andre Washington made Nov 19 at 2021 3:57 PM

I was a 25B (called 74B when I reclassed) for 14 out of my 20 years. The only time I fully worked my job was during my two deployments. Contractors do most of the work in Garrison. Have you considered 25D? Cybersecurity in the Army was getting big when I retired in 2018, and the promotion potential was a lot better. In any case, I did touch radios, satellite equipment, antennas, etc. All depends on your unit bro.SSG Andre WashingtonFri, 19 Nov 2021 15:57:51 -05002021-11-19T15:57:51-05:00Response by SGT Dealdre Murrell made Feb 16 at 2022 9:18 PM
