SPC Private RallyPoint Member7023667<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am trying to switch from 89B to a 92Y. I requested for a class date a month ago and have still not heard anything. Also I checked to see if there was a need for 92Ys and that I would have to wait til the next fiscal year. Why would I have to wait so long? <br /><br />If anyone could answer it would be greatly appreciated.Would I have to wait until the next fiscal date, which is in 5 months for a reclass spot?2021-06-03T21:51:39-04:00SPC Private RallyPoint Member7023667<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I am trying to switch from 89B to a 92Y. A 92Y class seat could pop up tomorrow or not for another two years. You might never be eligible to take one when it's available, or there may never be a class seat available when you're eligible to reclass to it.<br /><br />Either:<br />1 pick a handful of jobs yo are willing to take<br />2 pick a job the Army always needs like 17E,<br />3 join the Reserve Component and reclass wit them (it may take two years to go to school)<br />4 pick something else and PCS awayResponse by SFC Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 4 at 2021 12:25 AM2021-06-04T00:25:02-04:002021-06-04T00:25:02-04:00SSG Private RallyPoint Member7029797<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>This process can vary largely depending on if you’re either Regular Army or Guard/Reserves.Response by SSG Private RallyPoint Member made Jun 7 at 2021 12:06 AM2021-06-07T00:06:02-04:002021-06-07T00:06:02-04:00SGT Jonathan Persons7031425<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>I did a search and it appears that you are in a Reserve unit. Have you done the legwork and contacted other units to see if they have an open spot for a 92Y, and contacted the unit about transferring? You should also talk to your unit training NCO to see if there is any update on a seat in a class.<br /><br />You may have to wait until your reenlistment window opens and use that to get an MOS change.Response by SGT Jonathan Persons made Jun 7 at 2021 6:51 PM2021-06-07T18:51:36-04:002021-06-07T18:51:36-04:00SSG Wilson Lucero7072409<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>You need to contact your unit S1 and or your unit retention NCO to see if your MOS is open and allowed for a reclass.Response by SSG Wilson Lucero made Jun 27 at 2021 9:51 AM2021-06-27T09:51:26-04:002021-06-27T09:51:26-04:00SPC Richard Sellati7098810<div class="images-v2-count-0"></div>It has been ages since I did this switch, I believe it was ‘92. I may have continued to serve in my 71L slot, while going off to train for 92Y. I don’t imagine there will be a lack of room in a Reserve unit for that MOS, especially if it’s an HHC.Response by SPC Richard Sellati made Jul 10 at 2021 8:53 AM2021-07-10T08:53:34-04:002021-07-10T08:53:34-04:002021-06-03T21:51:39-04:00
