You have 7 years toward an Active Duty retirement (plus any active time you racked up in the Reserves). You would need to either transition into the Reserves or IRR, or at least I don&#39;t know how to transition you from Active Duty to Retired Reserves. That is where you would want to land if you leave Active Service. You wont pick up any additional points in the Retired Reserve, but it will allow you to pick up TIS years for pay. Then 9 months before your 60th Birthday, you submit your retirement package. The last I looked, they no longer automatically send you a packet, so you will have to get online to apply.
