Would I still be able to apply for HPSP to pay for DPT after putting in an Ed Delay to pursue DPT in a civilian school? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/would-i-still-be-able-to-apply-for-hpsp-to-pay-for-dpt-after-putting-in-an-ed-delay-to-pursue-dpt-in-a-civilian-school

My goal is to be a 65B Physical Therapist Active Duty in the Army. I am a current MS3 Cadet and a Green to Gold Scholarship recipient. I have researched about Army-Baylor PT program and my stats seems a little low with 3.59prereq and 3.8cumulative. I am now debating if I want to put in an Ed Delay and pursue DPT in a civilian school. My only problem is my GI Bill will be exhausted for my Bachelors degree. So my question is, would I still be able to apply for HPSP to pay for DPT. Also since Im already going to owe TIS from Green to Gold, would this guarantee me going back Active after DPT school? Thank you for your time! My suggestion is to buckle down and get your GPA up, and whatever other prerequisites needed.

I also suggest you touch base with the Army-Baylor program and discuss your desires, and options. I would think a conversation with Army-Baylor will be very beneficial and provide lots of thought what your options might be.

Best of luck! Shoot me an email and we can talk specifics. I believe I’m the only Michael Beggs in the global. I know one cadet that did this for chiropractor school. You probably will branch MS and they will put you in the USAR OADO control group. Basically, your unqualified and non deployable until you finish your schooling.

I don’t know if HPSP can be used for DPT. You may have to use whatever ed delay covers and then the rest make loans or use tuition assistance. 1LT Private RallyPoint Member Sun, 25 Jul 2021 04:53:18 -0400 2021-07-25T04:53:18-04:00 2021-06-01T15:43:14-04:00
