Would it be appropriate to wear your current military service uniform to an interview with a unit in another branch? https://www.rallypoint.com/answers/would-it-be-appropriate-to-wear-your-current-military-service-uniform-to-an-interview-with-a-unit-in-another-branch

I’m in the process of an interservice transfer from Enlisted Marine Corps Air Force Reserve Officer to be a Pilot.
I’m at the stage now where I’m trying to get a sponsorship from a unit I would like to fly for.
If I am invited out for an interview, would it be appropriate to wear my Marine Corps service uniform? I want to give a professional appearance that reflects my past accomplishments along with my resumé but I don’t want to overstep or give the impression that I’m not looking forward.
Would professional civilian attire be better? Any recommendation would be appreciated. The interviewer would already know if your military service, so there is no need to even mention your prior service unless you are asked direct questions about it. Not to mention that the Air Force interviewer would probably be intimidated by a Marine in uniform. You wouldn't need to but if that is what you want to do, it is acceptable. I conducted many interviews for pilots who were trying to transfer from another service to the Coast Guard and the uniform was always appropriate. The interviewers will be in uniform, why wouldn't you be as well? If you are on the fence, maybe the best thing to do is reach out to the interviewing unit to find out for sure. That could also be a deciding factor of getting pulled to that unit or not. Just my two cents. Best of luck to you. TSgt Steve Waide Thu, 07 Feb 2019 18:49:04 -0500 2019-02-07T18:49:04-05:00 2019-02-07T09:16:46-05:00
