Would like to re-enlist to Fort Stewart can I talk to my retention NCO before my window opens?

My window opens this year in October and my ETS date is feb 2022.. I’m trying to re-enlist to fort Stewart ASAP rather than having to wait a long time. Any advice would be of help. I’ve been on station for 14 months

You can’t move until 36 months time on station. You can be considered for movement until 24 months time on station. Yes you can talk to them, can they actually help you, no.

You should be able to speakbtobretwntion anytime they are available. They are essentially counselors regarding retention.

As soon as you get married make sure you and your spouse enroll into the MACP. Sometimes HRC will allow you to PCS prior to being on station for 36months (I’ve done it 3 times), so talk to retention and see what they can do for you. Good luck to you....

You can talk to them, but you still won’t be able to reenlist until November 2020. You still won’t be able to report there until April 2021 at the earliest, no matter when you reenlist. Your branch won’t move you because you are an initial term Soldier

You can talk to a retention NCO at any point. It's just talk until you re-enlist. It never hurts to know options and the when and whereof of what you can do. Sometimes there are ways to work around the TOS requirement but that mainly has to do with the Army being short on an MOS and you would need to reclass to that MOS to qualify.

You can speak with your retention personnel in advance of the window open but the window is in stone. You can't formally or officially submit anything before that window opens but there is nothing wrong with getting the plan set in advance and getting the paperwork and hurdles knocked out in preparation before the window opens. Good on you for trying to get ahead of the issue instead of waiting for the window to open before you do anything.

Your retention officer should be in battalion. He/She reports to CSM. Talk to your team/squad leader leader and schedule a time. They love seeing soldiers come in on their own.

You can always try and talk to them now. However the retention NCO might not want to talk to you (or may straight up refuse to talk with you) until your window opens. I suggest you talk with them as soon as you can, so you can get the process started.
