There are two other threads here on RP about (1) the need for dog tags and (2) tattooed dog tags. The article talks about "smart tattoos," which would eliminate the need for dog tags, and "implantables," which I think are the next best thing -- your CAC card and ID tags all in one - implanted in each Soldier.<br /><br />I think it's likely still a ways off, because people will complain about privacy issues, and that may be a valid concern.
