Would you leave the US Government your entire Estate?

In identical wills, immigrants Peter and Joan Petrasek, who had no known relatives, left all of their money and assets to "the government of the United States of America," ABC News reported on Thursday. Last month, a cashier check totaling $847,215.57 was made out to the Department of the Treasury. It is estimated that at the rate the federal government spends money, the $847,215 left by the Petraseks will be used up in about eight seconds. Would you do this?

Holy cow...most POTUS's wouldn't even do this! This is crazy. I am praying this is Photoshopped. "...will be used up in 8 seconds" is exactly right! I would rather donate this to a charity or foundation where its impact can be tangibly felt by real people.

If almost a million dollars only lasted eight seconds, my "entire estate" would be gone faster than a blink of the eye, Sgt David G Duchesneau.

I don't think I would leave my money (whatever's left) to the government. They got enough from my taxes over the years. I'm sure I will leave it to family members.

Absolutely no! I would find a more fitting charity .. Wounded Warriors or anything else. My goodness not no, but hell no! At least if you donated to a charity it would be of some use.

This is a real question and the 2 immigrants were real people right? NOT! I figure the government owes me for taxes and the like. If I didn't have family I'd rather leave it to some one who could use it, not my "favorite" uncle

Let's see: would I leave my money to an organization dedicated to its own power, killing people overseas, and systematically dumbing down people, so they could continuously shrink the common man's rights by pitting them against each other, all the while making those who are elected and their cronies rich? Wow. No. The government has more than enough money. There are far better uses for your life savings than the government. A charity would be better. A volunteer ambulance or fire department would be best. With over 800k they could put an entirely new and stocked rescue vehicle into the community. That's a shameful waste in my opinion.

No, those idiots would spend it 2 or 3 times over. There is no accountability in our federal, state or even local governments, esp. on our school boards. Most of these people have never held any kind of job.
, being a lawyer doesn't count either. Most of the people that represent us don't even know where the money comes from and they don't care,but they sure know how to spend it. They will just make more and tax the hell out of everyone else.

Not by design or on purpose Sgt David G Duchesneau would I leave my estate to the USA, State or local government. I hope that by the time that comes for me the estate laws become reasonable so that my estate is not taxed out of existence and my beneficiaries receive what I intend for them to receive.

FUCK NO!!! I On 17 May 1966, I was wounded in combat in the Republic of Vietnam and I was shipped out to Japan for long term medical treatment where I spent four months getting back the use of my left hand. . While I was in the Hospital in Japan, I read Rachel Carson’s book “The Silent Spring” and I thought to myself that she was really on the mark in what she wrote but there was clueless about what was really going on everyone has heard about “Agent Orange” but it is just short hand for what was actually called the “Rainbow Herbicides” Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve of which there were actually seven. They caused birth defects and other problems like adult onset diabetes like I have. The big joke is that all of us who were in Vietnam were diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) so our families could not sue Monsanto! The biggest joke is that they brought back the aircraft that they used to spray the “Rainbow Herbicides” and the geniuses in the Department of Defense brought them home and gave them to the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve but the made one little mistake. They forgot to properly decontaminate them so all the Air National Guard and Air Force Reserve people had to be given Veterans Administration pensions for exposure to the “Rainbow Herbicides” even though they had never been in Vietnam. When I got back to Vietnam, I met this Chemical Corps major and I asked him “Just what is the crap, you people are spraying around here?” Honestly, there was something about him that made me think of a concentration camp guard in one of the death camps. Really slimy. Honestly he actually said to me “Soldier, I can have you court martialed.” I looked at that fool and my mouth just ran away and I asked him “What are they going to do to me cut my hair short and send me to Vietnam?” Honestly what in the hell else could they do to me? I honestly could believe someone was going to use that threat to someone who had just returned from the hospital after being wounded in combat and could have been really messed up and died. The fool did not realize that “Long Bihn Jail” was the safest place in all of Vietnam. I do admit that I suffer from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder I have a 95 pound American Staffordshire Terrier Service Dog named Blackie who is my constant companion that helps me sleep at night he is a rescue dog that the Virginia State Police confiscated from some scum who were trying to turn into a fighting dog. He is a local celebrity and has many fans because of his wonderful temperament. He loves everyone especially little children and goes crazy whenever he sees anyone in a Virginia State Police uniform one lady sergeants keep trying con him in coming home with her. To this day, I am really not sure who rescued whom.
