They have to admit they need help. That often means they hit rock bottom. PTSD with a drinking problem is devastating. I know. I have the T-Shirt.

The pain calculus of PTSD and chemical dependency is not 5+5, it is 5X5.

As a Recovering Alcoholic, with 29 years of sobriety Feb 3 1992, I can tell you that there is no need to reinvent the wheel. Alcoholics Anonymous has been carrying the torch of recovery for over 100 years and it is the single most effective program for the treatment of addiction available. It is also a fully self supporting institution with no ties to any corporate or governmental agency and is truly an anonymous program that works! I personally owe my LIFE to the people in AA. Nobody truly understands the emotional struggle that addiction holds like someone that has overcome it, and that is why it works!
