I want both of my boys to be WHO they are regardless of their intellectual or physical components. I want them to be the best they can be in whatever path they so choose to follow and to take responsibility for those choices.

with 4 girls and 2 boys in ages ranging from 25 to 9 - it's an interesting question ... but in my case I'd have to say that as long as each of them have a good head on their shoulders & can reasonably stand on their own two feet I'm happy for each of them in their own way. They will grow and pursue their dream hopefully with tenacity and energy to be the best person they can be. Anything else is just icing on the cake. I don't know that being "extremely" one or the other fits the circumstance, but thanks for giving me a moment to think about every one of my kids!

Let me answer this question this way. I would rather my kids be themselves no matter what, than try to be someone else either by changing their looks or smarts just to fit in or impress others.

SFC Drake, I'd say less attractive and extremely intelligent. Intelligence doesn't fade, can't be bought or sculpted, and makes him successful enough that his looks don't matter. Fortunately, any progeny of mine doesn't have to choose. ;)

ugly and intelligent is my choice. Looks only get you so much, and at that, its superficial. The most attractive women in the world are ugly as hell once you see who they really are or see how they talk to people. Just walking down the street you see some good looking ladies, but once they walk past you they put their nose up or act like they are better than you... snotty ass, automatically UGLY!!... Its the somewhat attractive ones who have the best personalities. (for the most part) And this I am sure can go the same for males. So, less attractive and intelligent is mine.

I have fallen in love with some beautiful, some intelligent, and some beautiful and intelligent people.

What I cannot abide are stupid, unkind, and/or cruel men and women. I would rather live with dog/cat.

Oops, I missed first part of your question. My children should be a product of love, kindness, and compassion. In this instance intelligence and beauty are secondary considerations. I just want them to be joyous in who they become.

To answer the question, I would prefer my children to be intelligent.

However, I am more concerned with my children being reared properly and growing up to be well rounded gentleman who contribute to our society. My biggest wish for my children is that they are confident in themselves and their decision. And that whatever they choose to do they find happiness.

I would not consider myself extremely attractive nor extremely intelligent but I sure have a great life and consider myself to be one lucky man who has a beautiful wife and two awesome boys!

Of course the correct answer in our society is "extremely intelligent". I emphasize "LESS intelligent" because your question isn't saying intelligence and aesthetics are mutually exclusive. All my niece needs to be is so-called extremely attractive and MORE intelligent than the average human to be successful. Extreme intelligence isn't necessary.

Ignorance is bliss and intelligence can be a burden at times. I've found those who are extremely intelligent lack social skills and are too busy being teachers so they forget how to be students. Plus the more intelligent you are the more stupidity you recognize. It can be quite disheartening watching sheep bah.

"bah" is the sound a sheep makes ;)

Looks fade but you better believe intelligence fades as well.

I have two little boys (one 5 years and one 11 months) and I can tell you with confidence I would MUCH rather of had them less attractive and extremely intelligent than the latter of the choices. SPC Thundercloud put it very well; Beauty fades, intelligence does not. Thankfully (and partially biased) they are both smart for their ages and handsome.

I would rather my children be more intelligent. Attractiveness is very subjective, and it is only temporary. Beauty doesn't make someone a good person. Being intelligent is how we will advance and become successful. It is also how we will prevent mankind from following the path of the movie "Idocracy."

Attractiveness varies from one person to another. What I find attractive, you may not.
What is the definition of Intelligent. Intlleigince is based on what? SAT scores? Grades? You can be book smart and have no common sense/street smarts and you can have streets smarts and not be very good with books. You can be a Heart surgeon, but couldnt fix a leaking faucet to save your life.

In the end, it is intelligence that sets people apart from each other, at least, in my opinion. It is my belief that the extremely attractive but less intelligent leach off of others but the intelligent can always be resourceful enough to get themselves out of any bind they find themselves in.

For me, I am fortunate enough to have four beautiful children who are exceedingly intelligent. I just hope that I am able to pass along the the right life lessons and wisdom to ensure they don't find themselves in the same problems I found myself in.
