I am as soon to be licensed acupuncturist. If this act passed, I would seriously consider returning to service or working for the VA. This act would allow acupuncturists to be commissioned officers and work for the VA.

I had a military officer who was an Internists perform acupuncture on me for some back pain issues at Walter Reed. So they already do it, but I'm not sure if they have people solely dedicated to acupuncture.

Thanks for the info! I suspect the internists was more than likely a MD or DO. Which is great, but as you mention it is rare to find someone on payroll solely deploying acupuncture. Employing Licensed Acupuncturists would open it up for more service members and veterans while letting doctors focus on there primary duties. Plus it would say the tax payers, since you would not likely pay a licensed acupuncturist the same as a MD at least not at the entry level.

I don't have any real opinion on acupuncture, but I sure wish that everyone would stop referring to anyone who was ever in the military as a "hero." All it's doing is diluting the term and bringing true heroes down to the level of every Soldier. Soon, it won't be a distinguishing adjective, it'll be just another word for Soldier.

I agree about the "hero" thing. Same goes for LEO's, firemen and medics. SOME are heroes, some are lazy asses and some are scumbags. Most are just ordinary people doing their job the best that they can.

I agree but that's politics in congress. Reminds of a drunk telling me "god bless you for serving" at a red light while he was in the driver's seat visible drunk on the forth. And I'm like wtf, please don't wreck and die

SGT Jerrold Pesz - I remember one a PV2 came up to me one day while were doing "area beautification," and was like, "Sergeant, these people just thanked me for my service, and all I did was rank a field full of leaves today." I just laughed. It's probably different now, but when I joined in the late 90's, my ideal recruiter poster would have had a buffer, broom, and mop on it.

I would support VooDoo if it helped one or more Veterans to overcome a bad medical habit or to be cured from any disease!!!
