Would you support Rallypoint limiting the number of points one can get per day, as they do upvotes??

I think this is a simple and elegant way to prevent people from gaming the points system by spamming posts. The net effect of which is that there'd be a lot less clutter. Imo.

Why do the points even matter? I have not looked at my points in over a year and I don't assign any value to a person's response based on their point count.

Is spamming for points really that big of a problem in this site?

Why limit the amount of points one can earn daily? There isn't any prize(s) handed out as far as I know so what's the big deal? Just my opinion.

SN Greg Wright, other than I wish we had more than 75 up votes and that there were more controls over unverified profiles, I say let it be. I know there are many that simply wish to amass points, and I say let them. You can either try to have meaningful dialogue or you can reach for points. There are few that can do both well.

No reason to limit any more than what is already limited. If you don't like what someone posted, move on to something else. Just like any other social media site. RP should do a better job verifying accounts before we move on to this sort of stuff IMHO.

Never really knew there were point limits. I would say maybe limit the # of posts someone can make per day to reduce spamming.

Yes, I would... Is RP a game or a forum? Just like you have maximum votes per day, your posts should be limited, and your tags. I think the points are silly, as I think they make many just post for the sake of points... vs. providing value added. I never understood why the points...

Unless you can spend the points on tshotshkes, I am no sure what they are for exactly. I see there are folks with millions of points. I am not sure how you even get that many points. I comment on many stories/posts but start very few but have nowhere near a million points. I am fine with points being awarded but it seems there are ways to load up on points by starting posts and tagging dozens of people in every one of them. I don't see a need to limit the points per day.

I keep up with my RP points about as much as I keep up with my Justin Bieber albums. Which is to say not at all...because I don't have any Just Bieber albums...just want to be clear on that.

I'm all for less clutter though.

The spamming has gotten out of control, with a seeming arms race at the top of the charts.
It is getting increasingly difficult to find discussions worthy of a response, and increasingly rare to find discussions with legs because of this. That is why my own activity has tapered off quite a bit.
I think a link posting limit would bring things back into shape without detracting from the robust topics on this forum.

Yeah, we do have a few Points Rangers out there, but honestly, what does it matter? (And why do they bother?!) The points are meaningless other than to track QUANTITY of activity on RP. The winner doesn't get a T-shirt.

The problem I see is that the ranking of the poster or commenter means nothing. If you have 1 or 30 things to talk about that you feel are worthy of discussion it doesn't matter. Do you lend mor credence to a post written by someone who's ranked highly? I don't. Also the point system is a way of showing off how many people agree with your point of view. Do you know how many people's opinions should matter when making up your mind on an issue? 1, yours.

Spamming in some cases is in the eye of the beholder. What may be a daily inspiration for some is spam to others. In that regard some are not gaming the system, they are using it to spread their message, which in some cases is a needed break from the 'rat race.'

SN Greg Wright I can understand your point,Greg,but can see no real harm in it.If someone uses RP in a manner to amass points(like gaming) even they sometimes make post of interest or that are humorous.
