Kill the assassin of Franz Ferdinand before he killed him and his Wife. This would have prevented World War 1. It may also have prevented the Russian Revolution since Russia was losing when the Czar had to step down. This also would have prevented a Versailles Treaty and a humiliated Germany made broke to payback England, France and the USA. This then would have prevented Hilter starting his Nazi Party and later starting World War 2 as vengance to Germany's Defeat in World War 1. The Holocaust would not have happened. Too many other 2nd and 3rd order of Affects.

I think I would go to the city of Kadesh on the Orontes River, just upstream of Lake Homs near the modern Syrian-Lebanese border in 1274 BC (using the conventional Egyptian chronology) to watch the Battle of Kadesh and learn the truth about what happened with Ramesses II and he fought the Hittites.

I'd like to see the Library of Alexandria before the Legion burned it. Though as I understand it was burned by mistake and Caesar was none too pleased.

Or perhaps the first recorded War in Human history in Mesopotamia between Sumer and Elam around 2700 BCE.

In these instances the only thing I would change if possible was the burning of the library, I have no need or desire to alter the conflicts themselves.

Then again, I supposedly had family serve during the Revolution. Wouldn't mind watching that.

Obvious choice would be to go back to Germany when Hitler was beginning his pursuit for power and put a bullet in his head, hopefully from respectable rifle range with a chance of escape, but if not then put one in mine also.

Maybe going to Scottish Highlands and working as hard as I could to help the Highlanders win at Culloden (Jacobite rising of 1745) would have been something closer to my roots.

This has been a subject of debate for years. One person even suggested going back and killing Hitler before he was grown up. This was countered by a list of Nazis who would have filled the vacuum created by this assassination. Any effect created by changing the past has severe consequences. Causality Loops, the Butterfly Effect are only among a few. If an attempt to save the world you could accidentally destroy the world.
