I have been informed by MEPS that my hearing will, outside of an additional waiver, exclude me from going back into Security Forces in a precautionary move to avoid any further hearing loss - even though they stated my hearing is normal for a 40 yr old that has worked around firearms. The AFSCs I am interested in are:
Enlisted RPA Pilot (D'uh!!)
Intel: Geospatial, Ops, and regular
Emergency Management

Of course, if/when I get to a unit, and they ask if I would like to pursue commission, you're darn right I would

Sweet SSgt (Join to see) get with your recruiter there and see what openings are available- and then see which will allow your condition waiver. Just an FYI before you go- our unit will not access an ALC waiver in place from the med side. It does NOT preclude command from accessing you. Our unit has a bad issue with this and we were about 14% in waivers for the unit. This shows our medical readiness to the Pentagon as 86% and add in those that are behind on PHA and immunizations- we fall into a 60% category. In the world of base closures that is not good. Pick a hard to fill AFSC bro.

Maj Marty Hogan I would love to go back to Security Forces, since that is where I come from, and I have my Masters in Criminal Justice Administration. Once the SG waiver is confirmed, she is going to send me a list of AFSCs that are a go. She warned me that it, most likely, won't contain anything close to a flightline, which sucks. I'm an aero-junkie...LOL.

Thank you, sir!!

SSgt (Join to see) - it sucks but you are part of the game again. It is easier to move around sometimes once in as well. Did I say that out loud?

Look into Weather. My experience is that promotions come fast and furious in Weather. Although, the Officer route is a good bet too.

Not sure where they are now but the Air Force downsized weather related Officer positions a few years ago so keep your options open. Remember that once your in movement should be easier into a different AFSC or Officer billet.

You've got to have at least 18 semester hours in meteorology to qualify as a 15WX officer.
