Iowa Air Guard Refueling Wing Supports NATO Missions

While on a two-week deployment to NATO Air Base Geilenkirchen, Germany, Sioux City's 85th Air Refueling Wing is conducting in-flight refueling for NATO AWACS aircraft. Upon completion, the 185 ARW will rotate with an ANG unit tasked from Topeka, Kansas.

Sure is- we used to have A-7s back in the late 80s/90s- then F-16s- now KC-135. A-7s I was stationed elsewhere.

Maj Marty Hogan - this is some bad ass talent right here! I remember watching them film how it's done I think on National Geographic Military something or other.
However I don't agree on with it being public knowledge as I remember hearing (and please correct me if I'm wrong) in some cases enemies started targeting these fuel beasts to weaken air forces.
Either way! I'm in total awe!

SFC (Join to see) Those were our guys in the Gunny special- they are 1950 model airplanes that have seem it all. Always targeted but in the real world- they have fighter escort at the first sing of danger. Awesome crews and maintenance guys.
