Amen to that well stated Chief! I was a trusted Agent in many sensitive positions. There is now way in ?!? I can trust FaceBook until they employ security like the military’s SIPRNET. Lol.

Boneheaded move (by the people in the video) but to say that the punishment is a gross overreaction is an understatement.

That's one way to kill your recruiting and retention numbers... and overall morale.

I posted some pictures on another thread of other re-enlistment ceremonies... in one, an individual was dressed as a storm trooper from Star Wars... one took place in the local Game Stop store... and one showed someone pointing a Beretta at the head of the individual re-enlisting.. There's a long list of ridiculous things that people have done for their re-enlistments and this was comparatively minor imo.

PO2 Robert Aitchison - So, you are saying that Tradition and Honor as well as the solemnity of the ceremony mean nothing? I expect a Col and First Sergeant to know better than to allow this to even get past the suggestion phase! It belittles every enlisted person who went before them and those who come after them. A re-enlistment is a public ceremony performed in the presence of an Officer, the American Flag and guests. It is NOT a joke or a thing to be made light of. If an enlisted person doesn't have the sense to acknowledge this and treat it with the proper respect, the leaders (of which this unit had none apparently) should have mentored her! Leaders are out front saying "Follow Me" not in the back thinking "this ought to be fun to watch". I continue to hold that the punishments were not strong enough! I WOULD HAVE LOST MY MIND if I was there!

MSgt Stephen Council - IMO the two participants should have gotten reprimands, this alone would have made it it difficult, if not impossible to advance to the next rank.

As for the SNCO filming their biggest mistake was holding the phone wrong.

I've never witnessed a re-enlistment. I've only ever done a proper enlistment/re-enlistment twice out of 5 contracts signed; once at MEPS when I first entered the military and once when I re-enlisted after my first contract with the National Guard. The other 3 times I've signed my contract and been on my way to handle my business.
