I think they're interviewing the wrong folks at the Pentagon. There is a HUGE effort to organize, train, and equip cyber forces across the services and their respective Guard and Reserve units. Many are still new, some have been at it a while. The military in general is still trying to figure out how best to employ ALL the cyber units while concurrently trying to work the C2, intelligence, etc elements. Its a pathfinder effort right now, but I am sure it will all become more organized eventually as we get more cyber savvy leaders into the higher echelons of the military.

I would tend to agree. All the Services are looking to leverage the RC's for Cyber, given that the private sector will hone their skills faster and cheaper than the military could.

There's nothing stopping us from adding contractor support to assist in the efforts to organize, train, and equip our cyber forces. I've work in military cyber environments where we had a great balance of civilian/military. As long as we don't contract the whole effort out.

Always nice the DoD has no idea what subordinate units are doing. Will leave that right there....

Great post LTC Stephen B.

I recall that the Guard outperformed AD recently in joint cyber training ops?

Not surprising as a lot of folks in the Guard do a lot of these types of activities in their civilian jobs.
