I left active duty in November and processed into my Guard unit in December. I didn't reclass or anything like that, just simply took of an active unit patch and put on the Texas "T". How long will it take for me to receive my EAB, and who can I contact for more info? My readiness NCO says he will look into it, but I think he's already done his piece by submitting the bonus paperwork.

I've dealt with 4 of these in the last 6 months. There is nothing your unit needs to do. When you got off AD the Inter-Service Recruiter submits all of your paperwork straight to NGB. It will take anywhere from 90-120 days for it to process and you will have a LES on MyPay. Your Readiness NCO can look at it in GIMS and see where it's sitting at ie:DFAS etc.

I work in the G1 Incentives section the gaining unit/Career councllor does have to go into GIMS and send the payment to the state IM to verify and the state has to verify twice and then send it to the IST/NGB from there it then goes to DFAS this process can take up to three months depending on how fast the unit, NGB and DFAS moves. in some cases if the paper work ins not correct it can take substantially longer

Talk to the Unit retention NCO or your Readiness NCO....They will have to log into GIMS (Guard Incentive Management System) and verify that you are attending drill and have in processed into the unit. Once complete should be paid to you in a week or two. You don't get it automatically because the Reserve Component Career Consolers have some SM who fail to show up at their assigned units after leaving AD. If you just came from active into the Guard the Guard wants to make sure that you are a drilling member before they pay the money. Sometime people are no-shows.

His new unit doesn't have to do that MAJ (Join to see) It's all submitted prior to him leaving his AD post. See my comment above.

Copy All SFC Springman....its been a while since I worked at an RCCC offices so my info is dated...I remember some GIMS contracts I used to do had a clause that stated the SM had to successful in-process/start drill with the new unit in order to receive a bonus coming off of active...good catch...and thanks for looking out for SM! Hope all is well and I enjoy all the info you give your an awesome resource.

Bad thing is about these EAB that Soldiers are getting the gaining unit isn't even aware of the Soldier receiving a bonus. I didn't know until I had one of my new Soldiers ask me when he was going to get paid. I just kind of gave him a "huh" look. Got on GIMS seen it made a couple of phone calls and found out how they work..lol.
