Do they have orders authorizing them to wear it? If they do, I don't see a problem with it.

Information for the Shoulder Sleeve Insignia (SSI) and Shoulder Sleeve Insignia, Former Wartime Service (SSI-FWTS) can be found in AR 670-1, Chapter 21, para 21-16, and 21-17. They're long paragraphs, but very informative as far as this topic goes.

I would say if the reservest or NG soldier was on orders to active duty he Is just like every other active duty person, With orders to a unit and doing a job their he is a member of that unit for that time assighned just like everyother soldiier in the unit. I did that for over 6 years during RVN.When it was over I was retuned to the state(NG)

When attached they did earn the right to wear it. They did combat under that command and at the point of attachment they are under title 10 orders.

Now you have to wear the patch that organic to your unit unless you deploy smaller than a company. If your Battalion is attached to the 82nd you don't get the 82nd patch now. You only get your own patch.

I was national guard and was attached to 101st I am authorized to wear the screaming eagle patch as my combat patch. While I was there they changed over to 25th ID. I am also authorized to wear that patch.

I have 5 combat patches I am authorized to wear. All from one tour in Iraq. You know why I have so many? Because AD guys rotated in and out and I spent almost 14 months in country. So while my wife was planning our divorce, us NG guys were getting passed around to different units. I earned every patch I got. While the BN was living it up at BIOP I was working out of FOBs/COBs and shitting in barrels. So yes, I deserve to wear my AD patches, but I only wear one, the 2ACR (Even as an MP I got my Spurs with them.)

I had just looked and found all my stuff, I was in a guard unit in 06-07 and we were authorized at the time quite a few different patches, but it always surprised some older CSM that had the Tarrot leaf (24th infantry division) when they would see a older spc walk by with the tarro leaf on their right sleeve.
