When the USA was attacked on 9-11-2001 I discussed going back to active duty with my wife. Then I notified US Army Human Resources Command that I was willing to be mobilized. I was mobilized in November 2001 to support Operation Noble Eagle and served until being demobilized in May 2004.
How many other people have been mobilized to support Operation Noble Eagle in the global war against terrorism

When the USA was attacked on 9-11-2001 I discussed going back to active duty with my wife. Then I notified US Army Human Resources Command that I was willing to be mobilized. I was placed on voluntary TTAD orders which were sufficient to bring me back to active duty. I was mobilized to my active duty billet in the Pentagon area o November 2001 and served until May 2004. The organization I was mobilized to had been largely evacuated from the Pentagon because of the damage to their area. In January 2002 we moved back to the Pentagon.

SSG (Join to see) - that is an interesting question. We didn't earn patches to be worn on our right shoulder for Cold War service either.
I am pretty sure for the Army [not sure about the Marines] only serving in declared "combat" theaters earns the right to a patch on the right shoulder.

LTC Stephen F. -
Most ONE were state side mission, so I am not certain of the service stripes and combat patches under these orders.
My four mobilizations and three overseas deployments are OEF/OIF.
Agree nothing for Cold War.
I only recall combat patches prior to 1990 was a rare sight in the Guard and Reserve unless from the Gulf War.
Usually SF Groups or Ranger from Somalia action or 82nd for Grenada in Operation Urgent Fury, Just Cause (Panama), Haita or 101st.

After reading many articles, ONE was international, President Bush issued a proclamation declaring “a national emergency exists by reason of the terrorist attacks on the Word Trade Center, New York, New York, and the Pentagon, and the continuing and immediate threat of future attacks on the United States.” and 35,000 reservists for what was designated Operation Noble Eagle, homeland defense and civil support operations. I call in for a mobilization and had to leave my state, family and law enforcement job for duty. We were told it was war. As a result on this, I cannot get promoted because I lack a SSI.
If fact, I was denied an overseas tour because my unit said I had completed a tour with ONE and could not be deployed. The rest received a SSI while I had to be assigned with AF SF.

Thanks for letting me know SSG Steven E.. It is always interesting when I see a response to a question or response I posted long ago [not really long but I didn't join until March 2015].
